Chapter 5: He No Longer Loves You
A stifling atmosphere had been lingering in girls' dormitory room 606 for quite some time.
Tang Yu watched Xu Ke quietly, feeling a bit curious about her current mental state. Since she had walked in, Xu Ke had been sitting in her chair with a cold expression, occasionally grinding her teeth. Her icy eyes remained fixed on her phone screen, as if she were waiting for something. Having known each other for over two years, everyone was accustomed to her usual indifferent demeanor, and seeing her like this felt truly unfamiliar.
All of this was caused by a person she disliked—which left Tang Yu deeply puzzled. If Xu Ke really didn't care about Qin Luo at all, why was she so furious because of him?
Nearby, Yao Yanyan was scrolling through the campus forum, occasionally glancing at Xu Ke, then pursing her lips and shaking her shoulders, as if trying hard to suppress laughter. She was the type who loved to watch the chaos unfold; the campus forum was currently flooded with posts about what had happened earlier at the entrance of the dormitory building. As one of the people involved, Yao Yanyan was the center of much attention. In particular, Qin Luo’s remark at the time, "I like you more now," had pushed her into the spotlight, with many claiming she had secretly snatched Xu Ke’s little lapdog away.
Yao Yanyan didn't care much for such rumors. Like Tang Yu, she was simply curious about what was going on in Xu Ke’s mind and what she would do next. As for the twins, Chu Sijin and Chu Liunian, one was sipping milk tea while watching food videos, while the other was completely absorbed in a new anime, the delicate voices of 2D girls drifting from her phone—the only sounds in the quiet room.
Suddenly—
"Bang!"
The deathly silence was shattered by a dull thud. Everyone looked up to see that Xu Ke had slammed her phone onto the desk. Her eyes, which usually resembled an ancient, frozen iceberg, now seemed replaced by a volcano on the verge of eruption.
"That jerk, Qin Luo!"
"How dare he not reply to my messages! How dare he not apologize to me!"
"He even had the audacity to block me... I’m never going to pay attention to him again! Never again!"
She spoke as if she had suffered a grave humiliation. Her fair face was flushed, and her slightly rapid breathing made her chest heave. For a woman who had been loved and pampered by those around her since childhood, Qin Luo’s actions today were nothing short of an insult.
Back at the dormitory entrance, she had already wanted to lash out, but she had been caught off guard by Qin Luo’s string of erratic moves. By the time he walked away, she had lost her target. Now that she was back in the room, she couldn't shake off the frustration no matter how she thought about it.
As the saying goes, "holding it in causes breast hyperplasia, retreating causes ovarian cysts." Xu Ke had desperately wanted Qin Luo to bow his head and apologize; she had even taken the initiative to message him for the first time, only to be met with his silence and a block. How could she possibly accept that?
Seeing Xu Ke in such a disarrayed state, Tang Yu couldn't help but lean over to glance at her phone screen. She saw the string of messages Xu Ke had sent, and the glaring, striking red exclamation mark next to the final one. Tang Yu fell into deep thought, feeling both surprised and contemplative.
According to her previous hypothesis, the most likely reason Qin Luo had acted that way was that he could no longer stand Xu Ke’s attitude toward him. He wanted a change, so he had deliberately not given her milk tea and used Yao Yanyan as a pawn to provoke her. In Tang Yu’s view, if things had reached this point, Qin Luo’s plan had succeeded, and he should now be finding a way to coax Xu Ke, letting her know that he, too, had a temper.
But not only did he fail to do so, he had even blocked her on WeChat...
Did he misjudge the intensity and go too far? Or... did he truly stop liking her and plan to give up?
Tang Yu couldn't sort it out for a moment, so she advised, "Alright, it’s just a cup of milk tea; there's no need to be this angry. You can have mine." She held out the unopened jasmine green milk tea she had received from Qin Luo.
"Do you think I'm angry over a cup of milk tea?" Xu Ke scoffed, her voice cold. She glared at Tang Yu and said, "He gave milk tea to everyone else, but not to me. He clearly had several cups left, yet he claimed they were for his roommates. Isn't this just a deliberate attempt to make me look bad and embarrass me?"
Tang Yu frowned. She had acted out of kindness, but it seemed to have the opposite effect, making Xu Ke even angrier.
Yao Yanyan, sitting nearby, swayed her long legs, which were wrapped in black silk, and said lazily, "When you get down to it, aren't you just throwing a tantrum over a cup of milk tea? Is it really worth getting this angry?" She took a sip of her own red bean milk tea, a slightly exaggerated expression of enjoyment on her face.
Xu Ke glanced at her, as if provoked again. Her mouth twitched slightly, and she suddenly walked over. "Give me yours."
Yao Yanyan raised an eyebrow. "What for? I’ve already drunk this."
"Why? Is the milk tea Qin Luo gave you that good? You’re so reluctant to part with it?"
"I don't understand what you're talking about, it's just a cup of milk tea..."
"Just a cup of milk tea? Isn't that a gift of confession and affection from Qin Luo to you?"
"Pfft..."
Yao Yanyan couldn't help it; the milk tea she had just sipped sprayed out. The look she gave Xu Ke was filled with absurdity.
Seeing this, Xu Ke sneered, "What? Such a big reaction? Did I hit the nail on the head? Tell me, when did you and Qin Luo start this? Was today’s incident planned between the two of you, specifically to humiliate me?"
"I'll be damned..."
Yao Yanyan stood up with a start, her temper flaring; she almost wanted to dump the milk tea on Xu Ke’s face. She felt truly innocent and wronged. Although her personal reputation often led to rumors in school, she didn't care because those were often of her own doing. But this was different—she had been completely in the dark today, and she had been stunned when Qin Luo confessed to her in public after giving her the tea. Now that Xu Ke was mocking her, claiming she had been involved with Qin Luo all along, how could she tolerate it?
Seeing the atmosphere between the two becoming hostile, Tang Yu quickly intervened. "Alright, Xu Ke, please calm down. I believe Yanyan wouldn't do something like that. There is only one reason why Qin Luo did all of this today."
"What reason?"
The four people other than Tang Yu asked in unison.
*Yao Yanyan and Xu Ke are one thing, but why are you two just here to eat and watch joining in...* Tang Yu looked at the Chu sisters, feeling speechless, then said calmly, "It’s very simple: because he doesn't like you anymore."
