Liu Jiamin shook her head helplessly. "My brother is already in the operating room; it's useless to talk about this now. We can't exactly drag him out of surgery."

"The only thing we can do now is wait."

With that, she sat on a nearby chair, waiting in anxious distress. Xu Weiwei sat beside her to keep her company.

Seeing the deep concern on Liu Jiamin's face, Xu Weiwei comforted her, "You don't need to worry too much. Since the doctor dared to perform the surgery, he must have some level of skill."

Liu Jiamin offered a forced smile.

Meanwhile, in an observation room, Bai Yunxiao, Yuan Gang, and Xia Minghui were staring intently at the large screen before them.

A high-definition camera positioned above the operating table allowed them to watch the entire procedure as Lin Nan performed the surgery. Currently, Lin Nan was working on vascular repair.

He handled the ruptured vessels at the injury site with extreme caution. He prioritized his approach: smaller capillaries and veins were ligated directly to prevent further bleeding. For the ruptured arteries in the leg, however, Lin Nan utilized vascular suturing. His local stitching was both rapid and steady, resulting in a repair so perfect that the traces of the suture were almost invisible.

Li Qin and Jiang Yuan watched Lin Nan’s movements with wide eyes.

Was he really this skilled?

They knew a bit of vascular suturing themselves, but they were certainly not as quick or as steady as Lin Nan! This guy Lin Nan really was one to hide his light under a bushel.

It wasn't just them; even the anesthesiologist was shocked beyond measure by Lin Nan’s technique. As an anesthesiologist, he had participated in many vascular repairs, but he had never seen anyone perform surgery as quickly and smoothly as Lin Nan. It was like watching an artistic performance—a genuine pleasure to behold.

Lin Nan was only a resident; how could he already possess such capability? It had to be said that Lin Nan had hidden his depth far too well.

In the observation room, the three senior doctors were equally stunned. They watched Lin Nan’s swift and flawless operations on the screen, lost for words.

"Old Bai, has Lin Nan ever performed this kind of surgery before?" Xia Minghui asked after a while.

Bai Yunxiao shook his head. "I'm not sure. But since he joined the hospital, I can be certain he has never performed a surgery like this."

"Then why is he performing so well? It’s almost... perfect," Yuan Gang asked, genuinely bewildered. In truth, he could have omitted the word "almost," because Lin Nan’s performance was indeed flawless, without the slightest blemish.

"Indeed. If he hasn't done this before, how could he handle it so well?" Xia Minghui was equally puzzled, his voice deepening. "His technique and his surgical logic are both top-tier."

"The technique speaks for itself—it’s so perfect you couldn't find a single fault. Even if the deputy directors or the head of the vascular surgery department were here, I doubt they could find anything to criticize. And his clinical reasoning is incredibly mature."

"Exactly. He clearly understands the priorities—ligating the less important vessels first to stop the bleeding before addressing the arteries with higher flow. Look at the vessels he's suturing; it's impeccable. Even as someone who isn't a vascular surgeon, I can tell this operation is a resounding success."

Bai Yunxiao watched Lin Nan, who had begun the final stages of the procedure, and fell silent. He had held high expectations for Lin Nan, but he realized he had still underestimated the young man's strength.

"In my opinion, there is only one possible reason for Lin Nan to perform this well," Bai Yunxiao mused.

Yuan Gang and Xia Minghui looked at him, their eyes full of inquiry.

"He must frequently watch relevant surgical videos, learning these advanced techniques, and then practice and study them diligently in private. That is how he attained this level of proficiency," Bai Yunxiao ventured his guess.

"That's possible?" Yuan Gang asked in astonishment. "Even if you can learn a lot from surgical videos, you still need to perform operation after operation to truly internalize those techniques and make them your own."

Xia Minghui was also taken aback. They, too, often watched successful surgical videos to learn and draw inspiration from good techniques. But to truly absorb and integrate such high-level skills, one needed consistent practice—forming experience through a massive volume of real-world surgeries to make one's technique refined and masterful.

And yet, Lin Nan supposedly achieved this level of perfection after only watching videos and practicing in private? Judging by his performance, one wouldn't reach this level without having performed hundreds of such surgeries. But Lin Nan had never done this before—which meant today was his very first vascular repair.

What terrifying talent!

"Li Qin and Jiang Yuan are also doing a commendable job," Yuan Gang said, looking at the two assistants on the screen. "Jiang Yuan as the first assistant and Li Qin as the second—their assistance with suturing and cleaning is well above standard. For their first time participating in a surgery of this level, it's quite remarkable."

Bai Yunxiao also watched the two of them with a satisfied smile.

After a while, Lin Nan began the third phase: nerve repair.

The three men in the observation room stared at the screen, their eyes following Lin Nan’s hands as they moved.

"Nerve repair is significantly more difficult than vascular repair," Yuan Gang said in a low voice. "In vascular surgery, even if there's a minor slip, as long as the work is basically finished, it won't affect the normal function or blood flow."

"But it's not the same for nerve repair. You cannot afford a single mistake. The inner wall of the nerve must be perfectly repaired for the patient to fully recover post-operatively. The inner nerve wall is much thinner than a vessel wall, making the repair much harder. A moment's inattention, and you've made a mistake."

"Is that why you can only restore a patient to ninety percent of their previous function?" Xia Minghui asked.

"Exactly," Yuan Gang nodded, his expression helpless. "This surgery is not only difficult but time-consuming. It often takes five or six hours, is physically draining, and requires intense, unbroken concentration. It's a huge challenge to a surgeon's stamina and mental fortitude."

"Older doctors have great technique, but their physical and mental energy can't keep up. Younger doctors have the stamina and can maintain focus, but they lack the technique. That is the main reason why it's so hard to achieve full recovery for patients in these cases."

Bai Yunxiao and Xia Minghui nodded in deep agreement. Many senior doctors couldn't achieve a hundred-percent recovery in high-difficulty surgeries not because their technique was lacking, but because their physical and mental endurance sometimes wavered, potentially causing minor impacts on the results.

"I’m actually very worried about Lin Nan," Yuan Gang said bluntly. "He might be able to perform the surgery, but I fear some of the details will be lacking."

"Then let’s keep watching," Bai Yunxiao said with a wave of his hand.

As Lin Nan continued to operate on the screen, Yuan Gang’s eyes gradually widened in disbelief.

"Nerve anastomosis!"

"Nerve grafting!"

"Local nerve decompression!"

Yuan Gang blurted out, visibly excited. "He learned these techniques from videos too? He can master so many complex techniques just by watching videos?"

He was truly stunned this time. These three complex techniques were things he had mastered only after years of performing numerous surgeries. And Lin Nan had managed to learn them just by watching a few videos?
