027, A Brand-New Debut
The lounge area remained spacious and bright, yet the atmosphere now felt subtly charged. Several female sales agents had gathered together, whispering among themselves, occasionally casting sidelong glances at Wang Yun.
Indeed, three women together could always stir up a drama.
Yet, seeing Wang Yun’s calm expression, Zhang Yan couldn’t refrain from speaking up. “Oh please, yesterday we all thought someone got lucky, snagging a big client. But what happened? Most likely, it’s fallen through! It’s already this late and there’s still no sign of the person. If you ask me, that girl yesterday was probably just putting on a front, and now she’s regretting it. Who knows, she might say she’s not buying tomorrow.”
Hearing this, Wang Yun frowned impatiently. Sometimes she truly wondered if Zhang Yan’s mind was waterlogged. She never seemed to think before she spoke! The only reason Zhang Yan had managed to keep her position all these years was probably due to her knack for flattery.
“Sister Zhang, you shouldn’t say that. Someone who can casually pay a two million deposit hardly seems like someone short on money, don’t you think? Clients have their own plans; we just need to do our jobs and not gossip about others,” Wang Yun replied, her tone tinged with annoyance. She’d long since grown tired of Zhang Yan’s attitude.
She could still vividly recall Miss Lin’s decisive gesture yesterday, transferring the two million deposit without batting an eye. With such extravagance, did she seem the type to joke about such matters or put on an act? Wang Yun certainly didn’t believe so.
“Oh, now you’re defending her? You really are eager to play the lapdog,” Zhang Yan retorted, stung by Wang Yun’s words, her tone growing even sharper. She was about to continue when a sudden commotion erupted at the entrance.
“She’s here! She’s here! There’s a luxury car parked out front!” One of the sharp-eyed sales agents called out, voice brimming with excitement.
All conversation ceased as everyone turned toward the entrance. Someone arriving in a branded car was surely a potential top client. The women hastily straightened their uniforms and arranged professional smiles on their faces, preparing to greet this “VIP.”
A sleek, uniquely colored Mercedes CLS glided to a stop before the sales center, shimmering with understated elegance in the sunlight. The car door opened, and out stepped a young woman dressed in an ivory silk blouse tucked into high-waisted tapered trousers, over which she wore a light gray knit cardigan. Atop her head sat a chic beret, her face partially obscured by stylish cat-eye sunglasses. Every gesture exuded a quiet, intellectual grace.
The sunlight was so bright that Lin Mi had put on her sunglasses before she got out of the car, glancing at the group of staff posed in anticipation at the entrance.
A faint smile played on Lin Mi’s lips as she slowly removed her sunglasses.
The moment everyone recognized the woman from yesterday, their practiced smiles froze in place. Zhang Yan’s smile, in particular, seemed as if it had been set in ice.
Gone was the plainly dressed girl from yesterday. The Lin Mi before them was clad head to toe in designer brands, the very picture of a wealthy heiress.
For a moment, Zhang Yan felt her cheeks burning, as though she’d just been slapped.
Lin Mi, seemingly oblivious to the stares, walked directly to Wang Yun and offered a gentle, apologetic smile. “Sorry, something held me up.”
Wang Yun was momentarily taken aback, then quickly recovered. “No trouble at all, Miss Lin. I’m just glad you’re here.”
The two of them headed into the signing office, leaving the rest gaping in their wake.
So this young lady had been slumming it yesterday, dressing down on purpose for some kind of incognito visit?
If they had that kind of money, they’d flaunt it for all it was worth—no way would they put up with blending in!
“Miss Lin, the remaining payment comes to 5.68 million,” Wang Yun said, presenting the complete contract.
“I’ll pay by card,” Lin Mi replied, nodding as she pulled a bank card from her purse and handed it over. Her tone was calm and decisive, betraying not the slightest hesitation.
All the paperwork was swiftly completed, and with the keys to her new home in hand, Lin Mi was elated—happier even than when she’d bought her car. This was to be her home! A space entirely her own.
“The formalities are all done, Miss Lin. We’ve already arranged for the cleaning staff to give the place a thorough sweep this morning. You can move in right away.”
“Thank you.”
Lin Mi, holding her new keys, made her way to Building V-2. The elevator glided smoothly upward and stopped at the very top floor.
She slowly unlocked the door and was greeted by a bright, expansive space.
This was a three-hundred-square-meter luxury apartment, finished in a minimalist Western European wood aesthetic. The pale wooden floors radiated warmth and natural charm, complemented by beige and gray furnishings that created a serene and comfortable atmosphere.
The living room featured massive floor-to-ceiling windows, sunlight pouring in to illuminate the entire space. From the windows, the distant cityscape stretched out before her.
A simple fabric sofa, soft and inviting, and a coffee table with elegant lines adorned with tasteful decor pieces set the tone. The open-plan kitchen was both modern and practical, with an island that added a touch of pleasure to everyday life.
The bedroom was spacious and cozy, also boasting large windows and excellent natural light.
Most important of all, the master bedroom’s walk-in closet was roomy enough to accommodate all Lin Mi’s clothing—a dream come true. The bathroom’s design was equally impressive, with marble countertops, designer fixtures, and a pervasive sense of refinement.
Lin Mi inspected every corner of her new home, her heart swelling with anticipation for the life ahead.
She took out her phone and made a list of things she needed to purchase—bedding, tableware, houseplants, and more. If she was going to move in, everything had to be fresh and tailored to her taste. This was the start of a new chapter—one that truly belonged to her.
She placed the clothes she’d bought that day in the walk-in closet. Looking at the empty shelves, she vowed to fill the entire space.
After inspecting her new home, Lin Mi drove back to her old rented apartment. She hadn’t accumulated many possessions there, having only lived in the place for a few months. She’d already sorted out her old and outdated belongings for disposal. Aside from a few personal essentials, she intended to leave everything behind and buy new items for her new home.
After packing her things, she glanced at the clock—it was already seven in the evening.
She looked around the simple room she’d occupied for several months, feeling not the slightest trace of nostalgia.
She had her own home now—a place that truly belonged to her, and a hopeful future beckoning her on.
She sent a message to her landlord, placed the keys on the coffee table, and, pulling her small suitcase behind her, left with a carefree stride.
