Chapter 16: Going Home to Settle Scores with the School Beauty's Family
Time flew by, and before long, two days had passed.
It was five in the afternoon.
As the door opened, Cao Kun and Liu Yuling finally stepped out.
Since the two had entered the room at five on Friday afternoon, they hadn’t come out for a full two days.
Aside from a few times when food delivery arrived and the door was briefly opened, the door remained tightly shut the rest of the time.
“I still suggest you talk to them one by one. Negotiating individually makes it easier to push the price down. If you talk to them all together, with so many people, it’ll definitely be harder to lower the price,” Liu Yuling said, supporting herself against the wall as they went downstairs, glancing back at Cao Kun.
One Huang Jiahao alone had already consumed a third of Cao Kun’s funds.
But Huang Jiahao was the only one like that.
Among the landlords Liu Yuling had arranged meetings with next, most had at most two or three properties each, and some only had one.
That meant Cao Kun still had to meet several, even more than ten landlords to convert all his money into houses.
Meeting them one by one felt too troublesome to him, so he simply told Liu Yuling to gather them all together for a group negotiation.
At 7,500 yuan per square meter, if they accepted, fine; if not, then forget it.
Besides, Liu Yuling still had other landlords ready to sell, so he wasn’t worried about not finding enough properties.
“Forget it, meeting one by one is too much trouble,” Cao Kun shook his head. “They only have one or two houses each. If I meet and negotiate with each separately, who knows how much time it’ll waste? I’d rather spend that time doing something fun, right?”
He winked at Liu Yuling as he spoke.
Seeing this, Liu Yuling burst out laughing and rolled her eyes. “Seriously, making some commission from you is way too hard.”
“What?” Cao Kun smiled as he lit a cigarette. “I mean, with this time, I’d rather explore some nearby shops and find some good food. These past few days, I’ve just been cooped up at home eating takeout—not enjoyable at all.”
Ah!
That was what he meant.
Liu Yuling smiled shyly. “I do know some good places nearby. Let’s finish the negotiations first. If there’s time, I’ll take you there.”
...
Before long, Cao Kun met with the landlords who wanted to sell.
There were nine landlords in total, holding seventeen properties.
But unlike Huang Jiahao’s one hundred and thirty to forty square meter houses, these seventeen properties were not that large.
There were a couple of houses that big, but only two or three.
Most were around 100 square meters or between 80 and 90 square meters.
Facing these nine landlords, Cao Kun simply offered a flat price of 7,500 yuan per square meter: willing to sell, fine; unwilling, he wouldn’t force it.
In the end, six landlords agreed to sell, while the other three thought the price was too low and wanted to wait and see.
After arranging the transfer dates with the six landlords, Cao Kun and Liu Yuling grabbed a quick bite outside before returning to the property under his name.
Days passed.
Under Liu Yuling’s organization, everything proceeded smoothly and orderly.
Monday was all spent at the property center handling transfers, followed by dinner and rest with Liu Yuling.
Tuesday morning was more transfers at the property center; in the afternoon, meetings with landlords, then shopping, dinner, and sleep with Liu Yuling.
Wednesday followed the same pattern: transfers in the morning, landlords in the afternoon, and dinner and rest.
Thursday was transfers and dinner with Liu Yuling.
There were no landlord meetings on Thursday because Cao Kun’s funds were finally fully converted into properties that day.
However, he didn’t spend the entire 24 million yuan on him, only 23.8 million, leaving 200,000 yuan remaining.
That leftover 200,000 was obviously not enough to buy any property, so that was that.
Friday, no outings.
Saturday, no outings.
Sunday afternoon, three o’clock.
At last, after three full days indoors without stepping out, Cao Kun and Liu Yuling emerged from the house.
They couldn’t stay inside any longer — Liu Yuling’s husband was due back tonight around eight, and if he found her missing, suspicions would surely arise.
Cao Kun considered himself a man of morals and decency; he would never engage in anything that could ruin someone else’s family.
Therefore, he resolutely chose to end it.
Just like last time, Liu Yuling walked very carefully, carrying her bag in her right hand and supporting herself against the wall with her left.
Cao Kun, on the other hand, was more vigorous and spirited than ever.
Ten minutes later,
In front of the neighborhood, Cao Kun watched Liu Yuling drive away.
Once she left, Cao Kun didn’t linger but hailed a taxi and departed.
His business in Yundong District was settled; it was time to move on to other matters.
For example: exacting revenge on Wang Shanshan and her family of three.
If it weren’t for the urgency of affairs in Yundong District, he would have long since begun his retaliation against Wang Shanshan’s family.
Yundong District had granted Wang Shanshan’s family a few more days of peace.
But now that his business there was concluded, it was time to throw Wang Shanshan’s family into chaos.
However, before leaving Haicheng, Cao Kun had one more thing to do.
He needed to rent a place near Haicheng University.
With about half a month left before the university’s term started, whether to make up for the regret of not attending college in his previous life or to fulfill his grandfather’s lifelong wish, he was definitely going to enroll.
Of course, he would not live in the dormitory.
Not because he was antisocial, but because he had classified the “72-Style Rice Cooker” technique as a top secret.
Living in the dorm would not only hinder his practice of the “72-Style Rice Cooker,” but also risk leaking this secret, which he could not tolerate.
