At the Profound Level, one learns to project their battle energy outward; at the Earth Level, that energy becomes solidified. This refers to the cultivation of battle energy: once one reaches the stage of projecting battle energy outside the body, the next step is to shape that energy into various forms, using it to attack and control. Beyond that, one can condense intangible energy into tangible force—a process closely tied to the attribute of one’s battle energy.

Once someone becomes a true fighter, they awaken a corresponding battle energy attribute, allowing them to cultivate techniques of that attribute or those without any attribute. Mastering techniques of other attributes is possible, but extremely difficult, with little hope for high achievement. When one reaches the stage of condensing the intangible into the tangible, the battle energy takes on forms according to its attribute—if fire, then it becomes real, devastating flames; if ice, it can manifest as a world-freezing cold, and so forth.

Condensing the intangible into the tangible can be achieved through personal power or by relying on specialized battle techniques—just as a Profound Level cultivator can use battle energy to unleash a blade of force, so too can they, through sheer strength, manifest such techniques; this, in some sense, is a kind of battle skill in itself. However, the power of such self-manifested skills is generally weaker than those cast with true, inherited techniques, which have been refined over countless years and optimized for energy usage and meridian pathways.

When the mysterious elder acted, he immediately used earth-attribute battle energy, condensing the intangible into tangible form. Drawing upon his vast reserves, he formed a colossal mountain—so massive that it could likely crush a hundred men in an instant. If this were an attribute technique, its terror would be unfathomable!

That black mountain loomed high in the air, its sheer size and dark mien pressing down with suffocating oppression. Su Yi glanced up at the floating mountain, a glint of excitement flashing in his sinister eyes. “So, old man, you’re so quick to reveal the trump card you’ve kept hidden away…”

Having spoken, Su Yi slowly traced a circle in the air with his right hand. With that motion, the energy within him surged violently, an overpowering aura erupting forth. As the energy fluctuated, a massive whirlpool began to form at the now-still center of the river below!

The whirlpool spun faster and faster, and with thunderous roars, a gigantic column of water shot upward, spinning at dizzying speed! Tapered at the top and wide at the base, the water drill’s terrifying speed created a shrill whistle, its whole length vibrating with irresistible force, as if its tip could pierce the heavens themselves!

Su Yi and the mysterious elder each unleashed their mightiest battle techniques, standing apart, gathering their power, black mountain pressing from above, water drill rising from below—everything poised for that imminent, explosive clash!

On either side of the surging river stretched endless forests, the lush green seeming to drip with life. A gentle breeze whispered through the trees, carrying the mingled scents of earth and woodland, and delicate branches swayed, as if still tipsy from some lingering intoxication…

Suddenly, a beast’s roar thundered from the depths of the forest, like a bolt of lightning splitting the air!

“Down you go!” the mysterious elder bellowed, his face twisted with fury. Both hands, as if bearing the weight of the black mountain, pressed down with force toward Su Yi. With a deafening roar, the enormous mountain plummeted toward him!

“Black Mountain Seal!”

The massive mountain cast a chilling shadow on the ground below, expanding severalfold in an instant, about to engulf Su Yi entirely.

“Ascending Dragon Break!” Su Yi’s smile was icy. With a sharp upward sweep of his arm, the gigantic water drill, like a predator awaiting the kill, coiled for the strike, then lunged forth with lightning speed!

A piercing sonic boom split heaven and earth, the high-pressure spin transforming the water drill into an arrow of peerless might, soaring straight up to the clouds!

Black mountain and venomous water drill—two terrifying forces tore through the sky, colliding like a pair of meteors!

A thunderous explosion echoed across the land at the moment of impact, as if countless muffled thunderclaps resounded at once!

Next came a harsh grinding sound. The massive black mountain had come to a sudden halt not far from Su Yi—his figure minuscule compared to its bulk. Yet that abrupt transition from breakneck speed to stillness was uncanny; peering beneath the mountain, one saw the colossal water drill’s tip already burrowing into its base!

The water drill spun madly, shrieking as it cut deeper and deeper, not only holding the mountain at bay, but threatening to shatter it entirely!

The mysterious elder stood there, dumbfounded, oblivious even to the shower of debris flung past him by the spinning drill. Pointing at Su Yi, he cried out in astonishment, “Ascending… Dragon Break! That’s really Ascending Dragon Break! How do you… know this technique?!”

Su Yi gazed at the old man with cruel intensity, a chilling grin twisting his lips. “Old man, you can ask the god of death yourself in hell!”

With a fierce clench of his fist, Su Yi’s cold voice rang out again. “Break!”

With another explosive crash, the black mountain finally gave way, blasted into fragments by the water drill! Countless shards, propelled with terrifying force, shot toward the mysterious elder like cannonballs!

His face paled as he gave a low shout, hands racing through complex seals at his chest before thrusting them forward. A violent surge of battle energy erupted, and a black sphere several meters wide appeared out of thin air, enveloping him completely!

The rain of stone struck the shield with thunderous force, sending ripples across its surface; moments later, it stilled, calm as ever.

With the barrage deflected, the elder exhaled in relief—yet soon realized something was wrong. The speed and power of the attack were utterly unnatural. What sort of secret battle technique could grant someone who was not even a true fighter the strength to contend with him?

More troubling still, even if there were techniques to enhance one’s power, they would apply only to battle energy cultivators. How could someone who had barely reached the seventh stage of battle energy have any energy at all?

The only tenuous explanation: perhaps this illusionary realm relied mainly on soul power, and there existed a secret art to greatly amplify it. But most startling of all—the boy had used Ascending Dragon Break!

Two years ago, that technique had been used against him, wounding him and allowing its wielder to seal his power with the Five Venoms Binding Seal, reducing him from Earth Level all the way down to the Dragon Stage! Back then, to uncover the secret of the Heaven and Earth Blood, their people had joined forces with those of the Chaos Lands in a bloody battle, casting that man from the mountain summit. They had found a corpse afterward, confirming his death.

Of course, only those at the level of Battle Lord and above could, by virtue of a powerful soul, linger for a time after death—though their strength would plummet, and for safety’s sake, they would need a host. Yet, possession wasn’t so easily achieved—not with the living, the dead, or even magical beasts. Without a specially prepared vessel, the soul could not inhabit another form…

That man’s strength hadn’t reached the level of Battle Lord; his soul should have perished with his body. Even if, by chance, his soul had escaped, it would have dissipated long ago.

Then who was this youth before him? He not only knew the Five Venoms Binding Seal, but also wielded that man’s ultimate technique. While it was possible for others to use similar attacks, having fought that man, the elder knew without doubt: this was Ascending Dragon Break!

Could this boy be that man’s disciple? But the jade pendant clearly…

As these thoughts spun in his mind, the elder felt a headache coming on. If he truly wanted answers, the best way would be to interrogate the youth. Now that he remembered, hadn’t the youth referred to himself as “this seat”—precisely how that man used to address himself? But then, many people used such a title… The more he pondered, the more convoluted it became, and the elder could not help but give a bitter smile.

Separated by the pitch-black energy sphere, Su Yi could not see the old man’s expression, but judging from the situation, the other had no intention of emerging anytime soon. Su Yi gave a few sinister chuckles. “Let’s see just how tough your turtle shell really is, old man!”

He stretched both hands out, slowly bringing them together before his chest. As energy surged, a black lotus bud, formed entirely of battle energy, quietly floated between his palms.
