Chapter 160: Awakening the Ability!

"What has happened?"

Qin Sheng’s heart began to race as soon as she heard that something had gone wrong in the safe zone. Nuo, Xiaoxiao, and the others were still inside.

Yang Lin seemed just as surprised that such a situation had unfolded in the safe zone after their departure.

"Guo Jun has rebelled. He took advantage of our absence to incite the rest of the guard team." Seeing how tense Qin Sheng was, Yang Lin grew worried. He was fine since his own team members were right there with him, but Qin Sheng still had several people left in the safe zone, including the boy she had recently recognized as her younger brother.

Everyone in the safe zone knew that Guo Jun and Qin Sheng were long-standing rivals. If Guo Jun were to seize power, he would undoubtedly target Qin Sheng first.

The members of the Seventh Team who remained behind were certainly in danger.

"Oh no, Nuo and Ah Zhi are still in the safe zone!" Jiang Miaomiao, standing nearby, furrowed her brows upon hearing the news. She could hardly imagine what a scumbag like Guo Jun would do to them.

"Qin Sheng, what are you going to do?"

Qin Sheng remained silent. She turned, shouldered her Tang sword, and grabbed the gun that now had very few bullets left.

"Fight our way back," Qin Sheng said coldly. The only thing impossible to ignore was the suppressed rage in her eyes. If Guo Jun dared to lay a finger on her people, she would tear him to pieces!

Jiang Miaomiao nodded and slung her own gun over her shoulder. She was going with Qin Sheng back to the safe zone to rescue their friends!

The members of the Seventh Team were beyond calm; they armed themselves, intent on storming back to the safe zone. Only Yang Lin remained somewhat rational.

"We don't have many bullets left. Charging back in now is no different from throwing our lives away," Yang Lin said, attempting to restore their reason.

The entire safe zone was now under Guo Jun’s control. He would surely have set up traps, waiting for them to rush back so he could wipe them all out in one go.

At the very least, they hadn't heard any bad news yet, which was already a positive sign. If Guo Jun’s sole goal was to target Qin Sheng, he certainly wouldn't waste the leverage he had over her; he was waiting for her to return.

"We need to think this through carefully. This matter isn't as simple as it seems," Yang Lin said to Qin Sheng, trying to temper her current impulse.

Qin Sheng had also realized by now that rushing in would only lead to them being gunned down, which was exactly what Guo Jun wanted.

"Why don't we come up with a proper strategy and take action to save them tomorrow?"

Yang Lin was usually the type to act immediately, but since this involved Qin Sheng, he could only think further ahead for her sake to avoid any uncontrollable consequences.

"We can climb over the side wall of the safe zone. We can sneak in under the cover of darkness," Qin Sheng recalled the wall she had climbed when they first left. If they couldn't enter through the front gate, this was a viable alternative. Guo Jun wouldn't think of this on the first day.

"It’s better if not too many of us go in; otherwise, it will be too easy to get caught," Chu Xingyu suggested.

Qin Sheng nodded; that was exactly what she had been thinking.

"We’ll split into three teams. The first team will go with me at midnight to sneak in and locate where Nuo and the others are being held. The second team will lie in ambush near the front gate to provide support from inside and out, and the third team will act as our rear guard."

Qin Sheng detailed her plan. In the end, it was decided that she would lead the infiltration team, consisting solely of members from the Seventh Team.

"I’ll take care of the rest of the preparations. Be careful on the way," Yang Lin told her.

Qin Sheng nodded. She signaled for Jiang Miaomiao and the others to pack lightly, bringing only what was necessary, and by the time darkness fell, they had reached the safe zone.

True to her recollection, the wall had not been repaired. Qin Sheng gathered her strength and vaulted over. Jiang Miaomiao, Chu Xingyu, and the others followed right behind her.

Coincidentally, every member of their team possessed special abilities. Qin Sheng had briefly explained the situation to them on the way, and those with abilities were the best fit for the assault team.

However, once Qin Sheng landed on the other side, she realized things were not that simple.

Guo Jun had set an ambush early on. As soon as Qin Sheng climbed over, she was surrounded by countless people pointing guns at her. Naturally, the one leading them was Guo Jun. Beside him stood Qin Mengchun, wearing a look of triumph.

Qin Sheng understood immediately. Qin Mengchun had known about their departure from the safe zone. It seemed highly likely that she was the one who had tipped off Guo Jun to set the trap in advance.

"Still talking tough when you're at death's door."

If not for the sake of Qin Mengchun, Guo Jun would have given the order to gun her down the moment she landed. How else would she have had the time to mock them?

"Captain Guo, you seem to have forgotten that I am also a captain of the safe zone. What do you think you're doing pointing your gun at me?"

Guo Jun laughed derisively. "Qin Sheng, stop dreaming. I’m in charge of the safe zone now. You are no longer a captain."

Qin Sheng let out a cold hum. If Guo Jun was the one running the place, she didn't want to be a captain of his guard team anyway.

"If you're the district leader, I don't want the job anyway." Qin Sheng was constantly observing how to escape this predicament. Fortunately, they all had abilities to rely on, so their lives weren't in immediate danger, which gave her the confidence to talk back to Guo Jun.

"Since that's the case, kill them all." Guo Jun, clearly impatient, raised his hand to signal the fire.

Qin Mengchun looked smug, crossing her arms as she waited for the show to begin. Her "good sister," who had been a captain of the guard, was still just as useless as ever. She watched with anticipation, waiting to see Qin Sheng and her arrogant teammates die under a hail of bullets.

At Guo Jun’s command, the sound of gunfire erupted. Qin Sheng clenched her fists, gathering energy in her palms. A blood-red glow appeared, pulsating like a wave of energy. This was her ability; she could feel its power clearly.

As the bullets flew toward them, they were blocked by a blue barrier that appeared in front of Qin Sheng. The lethal bullets were as harmless as pebbles against this shield, which even withstood the continuous barrage.

Qin Sheng raised an eyebrow in surprise. She saw Shen Shi, whose palms were glowing with the same blue energy, forming a protective barrier that could block any danger.

"Damn, that’s so cool!" Lin Xing felt as if he were in a fantasy world. The blue light in Shen Shi’s palms must be the ability Qin Sheng had mentioned. It was incredible, like something out of a movie. No, even movies weren't this mystical.

Lin Xing and Chu Xingyu imitated Qin Sheng, gathering energy in their palms. A silver-white light appeared in Chu Xingyu’s hands, while Lin Xing’s glowed with a golden light.

They looked at each other in astonishment, then nodded and released the energy within them. The golden light in Lin Xing’s hands grew brighter, and wherever it touched their bodies, they felt a surge of strength. This was a physical enhancement ability.

Chu Xingyu possessed a metamorphic ability; he vanished from the spot as if wearing an invisibility cloak, and he could even transform into anything he wished.

Seeing Lin Xing and Chu Xingyu activate their abilities, Jiang Miaomiao tried to focus. The green diamond on her bracelet began to glow more intensely. Before their eyes, the scab on Shen Shi’s face—left over from the life-or-death arena—instantly vanished.

This was a healing ability.

Jiang Miaomiao’s eyes widened in disbelief. "How is this possible?!"

Hundreds of bullets had been fired, yet they were unscathed. It was incredible.

Qin Mengchun was no longer calm. She had expected to see Qin Sheng riddled with bullet holes, but they were perfectly fine!

In an instant, Chu Xingyu moved like lightning to Guo Jun’s side, holding a dagger to his throat.

Qin Sheng was shocked herself. She had barely used any force, yet they had been sent flying. It was unbelievable.

"Sister Sheng, catch the king to catch the thieves first~" Chu Xingyu winked at her, as if asking for credit.

Qin Sheng smiled and didn't hesitate to praise him. "Well done."

"Stay still!" Chu Xingyu threatened, pressing the blade closer when he saw Guo Jun trying to move. With his life in Chu Xingyu’s hands, Guo Jun dared not move a muscle.

Qin Sheng did not walk toward Guo Jun; instead, she went to Qin Mengchun, who was sprawled on the ground in a daze. Qin Sheng grabbed her chin with a cold expression.

"Sister, I didn't want to kill you. I’m your only sister, you have to believe me!" Qin Mengchun looked at Qin Sheng as if she were a demon from hell. She struggled to back away but couldn't escape Qin Sheng’s grip. She felt as though her jaw was about to be crushed.

"Spare you?" Qin Sheng let out a cold scoff, as if she had heard a joke.

Qin Mengchun panicked and began to shift the blame onto the restrained Guo Jun. "It was all him! You know, sister, he’s the district leader, I had no choice..."

In her past life, Qin Sheng might have actually believed her. But today, it was clearly of no use.

"As for both of you, I certainly won't spare either one."
