Qin Mengchun’s fear grew visibly after hearing Qin Sheng’s words. She was truly terrified that Qin Sheng might kill her.

"I am your sister, sister..."

Hearing the word "sister" felt incredibly ironic to Qin Sheng. Qin Mengchun remembered she was a sister now, but when she tried to kill her time and again, did she ever consider their bond?

"Qin Mengchun, from today on, consider me as having no such sister as you."

As Qin Sheng flicked her hand, a beam of red light bound Qin Mengchun—a containment spell manifested from Qin Sheng’s supernatural ability. Unable to move, Qin Mengchun roared at her, "What are you doing?! Qin Sheng, would you really kill your own sister?"

Qin Sheng rose slowly, as if she had not heard the shouting at all.

"Where are the people from the Seventh Team?" Qin Sheng asked Guo Jun, her expression icy and her gaze condescending, carrying an authority that made it hard for others to breathe.

Guo Jun snorted, clearly unwilling to answer.

"You won't speak?" Qin Sheng’s brows furrowed slightly. The moment she finished speaking, a red ring of light appeared around Guo Jun’s neck. Within a second, it felt as if the ring were strangling him, leaving him gasping for air. Qin Sheng stared at her palm; as she clenched it, the ring tightened further.

"The feeling of being unable to breathe isn't pleasant, is it?" Qin Sheng sneered. The ring around Guo Jun’s throat turned a deeper shade of red. Guo Jun was already struggling to breathe, and now the ring began to heat up, searing his throat.

"It’s getting hot, isn't it?" Qin Sheng watched the suffering man with indifference. She gave a cold smile. "How about I turn it into a blade instead?"

Qin Sheng met Guo Jun’s horrified eyes. If the ring transformed into a blade, there would be no chance of survival; his head would be severed instantly.

"Qin Sheng..." Guo Jun gasped, squeezing out the words, "They are at the hospital in the safe zone..."

Having achieved her goal, Qin Sheng retracted her ability. Guo Jun collapsed to the ground, gasping for air; he had been a second away from death.

"He’s yours now. I have no interest," Qin Sheng said, gesturing toward Shen Shi with her chin before turning and walking away, intending to rescue her people at the hospital.

A blue light flashed in Shen Shi’s eyes. He walked toward Guo Jun, blue flames coalescing in his palm. "Guo Jun, you should pay the price for everything you’ve done..."

In a flash, the blue flames from Shen Shi’s palm surged toward the recovering Guo Jun with the speed of a gale. The moment the fire touched him, it spread across his entire body. Guo Jun rolled on the ground in agony, but the flames showed no sign of dying out; instead, they burned more fiercely.

"Ah!"

Guo Jun’s screams filled the air, accompanied by the smell of burning flesh. A few members of the First Team, unable to watch, stepped forward to help extinguish the fire, but the flames were strange—they did not spread to anyone else. It was as if the fire had locked onto Guo Jun specifically, burning until his screams faded and he was reduced to ash.

Everyone was too terrified to utter a sound, fearing that if the fire touched them, they would meet the same miserable end. Shen Shi did not withdraw his power until Guo Jun was nothing but dust.

"We do not harm the innocent, but if anyone harbors malicious intent, do not blame us for being ruthless!" Shen Shi said calmly to the trembling guards. Hearing this, the guards stopped shaking. The new district head was dead, and they knew exactly who they should pledge their loyalty to now.

"Qin Sheng! Watch out!"

Qin Sheng had been watching from the side, preparing to head to the hospital, when she heard Shen Shi’s warning. She frowned and turned, only to see Qin Mengchun, who had somehow broken free, brandishing a handgun and aiming for her heart.

Qin Sheng was not worried. Putting aside the fact that her abilities ensured her safety, she wanted to see if Qin Mengchun was even capable of hitting her. She curled her lip, and the bullet veered off course.

Nothing special.

As Qin Sheng’s gaze fell upon her, red light instantly bound Qin Mengchun’s hands, and the gun clattered to the ground.

"Why aren't you dead! Qin Sheng, damn you!" Qin Mengchun screamed through her tears. Ever since she could remember, she had longed for Qin Sheng’s death. Why, when they were both daughters of the Qin family, was Qin Sheng the high-and-mighty pearl while she was the shameful illegitimate daughter?

Qin Mengchun hated Qin Sheng, and she hated everyone in the Qin family even more.

"We are both daughters of the Qin family, so why are you the heir? You are the princess, and I am the hidden, shameful bastard? I hate you, I hate Qin Zongming, I hate all of you!" Qin Mengchun seemed to realize her time was running out, so she poured out all her curses and grievances.

Qin Sheng watched quietly as Qin Mengchun ranted about the unfairness of the family and their grandfather’s prejudice. She looked at her like a clown, her emotions entirely unmoved. She had done all she could for Qin Mengchun. She could not bear to watch her family fall apart again, even if she had not yet found her younger brother, Qin Nuo, or her grandfather.

"Why?! Qin Sheng!" Qin Mengchun’s voice grew weaker as her strength faded.

Qin Sheng remained calm. She cast a final glance at her, as if pronouncing a death sentence. "In the end, you brought this upon yourself."

Without waiting for Qin Mengchun to recover, Qin Sheng picked up the gun and fired, shot after shot, into her limbs—not enough to kill her, but enough to cause excruciating pain.

"Chu Xingyu, throw her into the zombie forest and let her fend for herself."

Without looking back, Qin Sheng walked toward the safe zone. Behind her, Qin Mengchun cursed, "Qin Sheng! You will die a horrible death!" Qin Sheng heard, but she did not turn around.

Chu Xingyu glanced at Jiang Miaomiao, then used his power to toss the broken, whimpering Qin Mengchun out of the safe zone. As the low growls of zombies echoed, everything seemed to come to an end.

Qin Sheng soon arrived at the hospital. She was familiar with the layout and headed straight for the room where Lin Xing had been held. Her team was there.

"Captain?" Yu Yong thought he was seeing things. He rubbed his eyes hard, and when he realized it was really Qin Sheng, tears flooded his eyes. "I'm sorry, Captain. I didn't protect them well."

Qin Sheng frowned, a bad premonition rising in her heart. She scanned the room; Qin Nuo was nowhere to be seen.

"Where is Xiao Nuo?!" Qin Sheng grew visibly tense.

Yu Yong shook his head helplessly, filled with guilt. "When Guo Jun rebelled, Xiao Nuo disappeared..."

Suppressing her near-collapse, Qin Sheng rescued the others. "Go find Shen Shi and the others. I have things to attend to." She left with a few brief instructions.

She headed straight for the core base. Guo Jun had rebelled because the previous district head lacked the power to resist, but she did not believe Lu Qingyan was so weak. She wanted to know why he had stood by and watched.

However, there was no sign of Lu Qingyan at the core base.

After some thought, Qin Sheng went to a place she suspected. She slipped into her spatial dimension and, in a blink, arrived at the entrance of the "Fate Shop."

The shop was quiet, as if deserted. Even the lamp that usually hung by the door was dark. With a heavy heart, she opened the door and stepped inside. It was empty.

Qin Sheng searched for a long time before her eyes landed on a bouquet of roses. The flowers had likely been cut a long time ago and lacked their usual vibrancy, yet someone had clearly been caring for them; water droplets still clung to the leaves.

As she touched the bouquet, she accidentally shifted it, revealing a note underneath.

"At the full moon, we shall meet in the Otherworld."

The Otherworld?

Qin Sheng had heard this term more than once from Song Qing'an and Lu Shenchen. The note was clearly left for her. Did Lu Shenchen know she would come here? And what did the "night of the full moon" mean?

Qin Sheng calculated the date. The day after tomorrow was the fifteenth. Did that mean it was the only time to travel to the Otherworld? She frowned, crumpling the note in her hand. Perhaps by going there, she could unravel all her mysteries.

She couldn't describe her current state of mind. So much had happened in these few days: the chaos in the safe zone, the disappearance of Lu Shenchen from the shop, Song Qing'an’s vanishing, and the loss of Xiao Nuo. Everything seemed to be pointing her toward the Otherworld.

She took a deep breath. She knew she might be facing another world, a place that existed outside her understanding.

The night of the full moon. The Otherworld. A new world, a new challenge.

Qin Sheng pursed her lips, turned, and picked up a spray bottle from beside the roses, gently misting them. The dew drops on the petals glistened like tiny pearls—precious and lovely. Her mood eased slightly.

She wondered whose roses these were. Could they be Lu Shenchen’s? These roses must be for someone he admired. Was it possible that Lu Shenchen had someone he loved?
