Jiang Li’s eyes glinted with cold light. Although her grandfather told her that Qin Mu hadn't taken advantage of her in the contract, that did not change the fact that he had personally handed Youyou over to Chen Shaojie.

She had already brought Youyou to her side to protect her, yet this man had personally pushed the child away. She hated him. How could she not hate him when her daughter’s life and death remained unknown to this day?

Jiang Li took a taxi to the villa. She wondered if the place had become overgrown with weeds by now. After all, it had been four years since anyone had lived there. She was curious to see what kind of expression Qin Mu would have if she made him clean the entire villa from top to bottom. Wasn't he supposed to be her bodyguard, her nanny, and her servant?

Jiang Li had already conceived countless ways to torment Qin Mu. After all, this was the man who had once been her nightmare, the one who had done so many things to break her heart.

Before arriving at the villa, Jiang Li called the investigation center. It turned out some truths were indeed waiting to be uncovered.

"Ms. Jiang, we discovered that the surveillance footage from that night was tampered with. Furthermore, after you were taken to that room that night, no one else entered."

Jiang Li frowned. Does that mean the person she had relations with was not the one in that private room? Then who was that man? And who was it that had sent her there?

"Oh, I see. Investigate, keep investigating. Find out who sent me to that hotel room. Find out exactly who took my virginity. I must find out who is trying to harm me. Also, trouble yourselves to go to the hospital and check the night I gave birth. I was clearly pregnant with twins; where exactly did they take that stillborn baby? In short, I suspect someone committed a bait-and-switch. Investigate! As long as you clear this up for me, money is no object!"

"Yes, Miss. We will investigate immediately. However, do you have any suspects?"

The question caught Jiang Li off guard. If she had to name a suspect, Jiang Xue had been involved in every step of the events from the very beginning.

"Then investigate Jiang Xue. Also, continue investigating the plane crash that killed my father. In short, report any findings to me immediately. I only want the truth."

The taxi arrived at the villa gate, where a Range Rover was parked. It had to be said that Qin Mu remained as steady as ever; while other wealthy men preferred sports cars like Porsches, he remained loyal to business vehicles and Range Rovers.

She paid the fare and got out.

Qin Mu, who had been waiting with growing impatience, walked directly toward her. His upright figure, clad in a high-end tailored suit, maintained a gentlemanly demeanor as he waited for the taxi to leave before speaking.

"Jiang Li, where have you hidden Chenchen? I’m telling you, the child is innocent. If you have any grievances, take them out on me."

Hearing Qin Mu say this, Jiang Li was displeased.

"The child is innocent, you say? You know that, but was Youyou not innocent? I told you that handing Youyou to Chen Shaojie would be dangerous, yet what did you do?"

Qin Mu closed his eyes. "I’m sorry."

Jiang Li sneered. "If apologies were useful, what would we need the police for? I do not accept your apology."

Qin Mu yielded. "I admit this villa holds too many bad memories for you, but back then, I was just too angry. My father’s car accident still hasn't been cleared up. Don't I have the right to be angry?"

Jiang Li looked into Qin Mu’s eyes and smiled faintly. "Do I not have the right to call the police for you? Can’t you have the police investigate? As the dignified heir to the Qin Group, do you lack the ability to even investigate your own father’s car accident? Qin Mu, did I overestimate you, or do you simply not want to investigate?"

Qin Mu was left speechless by her words. He looked squarely at the woman before him. Her sharp tongue was a far cry from the Jiang Li of four years ago, whose eyes were filled with nothing but deep affection for him. She was also completely different from the Jiang Li of four years ago, who would only beg for mercy and claim her innocence.

A stranger with a familiar face—Qin Mu felt a moment of bewilderment.

"I apologize. I will use all my power to investigate the car accident from back then. But I truly knew nothing about Chen Shaojie wanting Youyou to donate a kidney to Jinchen."

Jiang Li snorted coldly. "Enough. If you, Mr. Qin, have no sincerity in fulfilling the promises you made yesterday, then you may leave. You can even call the police and report me for child abduction; suit yourself. I’ve come to terms with everything now; it doesn’t matter!"

Jiang Li was prepared to let everything fall apart. After all, if she showed even a hint of fear toward this man, he would have her by the throat. Jinchen was Qin Mu’s Achilles' heel, but the child was in her hands, and the boy was willing to help her. She would make full use of this opportunity to find evidence.

Qin Mu was helpless. "Fine. What do you want me to do now? I will cooperate fully."

Jiang Li glanced at him, gesturing for him to open the door. Qin Mu nodded and produced the keys.

But the moment the door swung open, Jiang Li froze. She knew Qin Mu had bought this villa specifically to torment her. During that month, she had suffered immensely here, losing twenty pounds.

But now, as the door opened, the foul, pungent stench of fox musk was gone. The courtyard had been completely renovated: a pond, rockeries, a pavilion...

There were even lotus flowers growing in the fish pond—something Jiang Li hadn't expected. In another corner of the yard, they had planted the fruits Jiang Li liked most.

Jiang Li walked into the villa without a word. The crabapple trees inside looked as if they had been planted three or four years ago. The pool where he once kept artificial crocodiles was gone, replaced by a beautiful, blooming lotus pond.

She stepped up the stairs and entered the two-story villa. The interior design of the first floor was in the style she loved; the sofas and furniture were European-style and clearly very expensive. Even the curtains had been changed to her favorite color. Her mood improved slightly.

The kitchen and refrigerator showed signs of recent use. Jiang Li was puzzled—was someone living here?

Qin Mu hurried forward. "I had this place renovated four years ago. I replaced everything, and I come to stay here occasionally."

Jiang Li frowned. She had intended for Qin Mu to suffer here—to pull weeds and endure mosquito bites—but it seemed her plan had backfired.

"Fine. Since that’s the case, Mr. Qin, please start preparing lunch. Also, I like peace and quiet. As for your promise to obey me, I think that remains to be seen."

Qin Mu frowned, his heart skipping a beat. "What would you like to eat? Or... may I hire a chef to come over and cook for you?"

Hearing this, Jiang Li sneered. "Is this the attitude Mr. Qin mentioned? If you have so little sincerity, then seeing little Chenchen will be impossible."

"I'll cook!" Faced with Jiang Li’s threat, Qin Mu had no choice but to compromise. Could he not cook himself?

Jiang Li acted as if she hadn't heard him and sat down at the computer desk. She took out her laptop and began to work. Then, with the air of a leader, she said, "After you finish cooking, come over here to study the proposal. I intend to win the bid for the land on the city’s commercial street!"
