Chapter 13: I Don’t Mind a Fight to the Death
“I’m finished eating; you two, please take your time.”
Yu Zi rose from her seat and walked toward the door.
Yu Yangyang watched Yu Zi’s retreating figure and stomped her foot angrily at Jiang Shuqin.
“Mom, look how arrogant that wretch is. You have to help me deal with her.”
Jiang Shuqin looked at her daughter with a mixture of disappointment and frustration, poking her forehead gently.
“You know, I’m trying hard to help you plan things out, but you have to make some effort yourself.”
Yu Yangyang was even more resentful that Jiang Shuqin did not take her side.
After being scolded, she left the villa with a sudden darkening of her gaze.
It’s just a cooperation deal, yet Dad is already showing favor to Yu Zi?
If the deal goes through, will there still be a place for her in this family?
With this thought, Yu Yangyang felt more determined not to sit idly by.
If the cooperation succeeds, Dad will like Yu Zi even more; only if it fails can she secure her interests to the greatest extent.
Besides, she had already made preparations last night.
……
Upon arriving at the company, Yu Zi found that many people had already come and were busy with their tasks.
She glanced around before entering her office.
Along the way, she confirmed once more with everyone that all the equipment was functioning properly.
But when she entered the conference room five minutes before the meeting was to begin, she found her assistant looking worried.
Yu Zi sighed inwardly, realizing she had overestimated Yu Yangyang.
“What’s going on?” she asked the assistant, who wore a troubled expression.
“President Yu, I don’t know what happened. I checked the equipment just ten minutes ago; everything was fine. But after stepping out for only five minutes, the projector won’t start…”
“I’ve already called the tech department, but it’ll take at least half an hour for them to come and fix it. The meeting might be delayed,” the assistant said, lowering her head in disappointment.
She couldn’t understand how this could happen when she had just checked everything.
Yu Zi was not surprised. After scanning the crowd, her gaze landed on Yu Yangyang.
Yu Yangyang, the fool, not only didn’t deny it but wore a provocative smirk, practically shouting with her expression, “I did this.”
However, Yu Zi had no time to deal with her now. She walked over to the projector and inspected it briefly, noticing obvious scorch marks near the power cord—clear evidence of sabotage.
At that moment, Yu Yangyang approached with a mocking smile, pretending to scold Yu Zi’s assistant.
“Looks like the projector’s busted today. What’s wrong with you, assistant? My sister pays you such a high salary, and this is how you repay her? When I arrived at the company, I asked if everything was ready, and you swore it was. Is this your idea of a guarantee?”
The assistant bit her lip, trembling slightly, and tried to defend herself quietly.
“I’m sorry. I really did check it this morning. It was working fine then…”
Yu Yangyang cut her off sharply.
“Enough. I hate people like you the most—making mistakes but refusing to admit it. Sis, looks like we’ll have to delay the meeting. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Things are off to a rough start; I bet there’ll be more trouble coming!”
Yu Zi glanced at Yu Yangyang but found it pointless to expose her schemes now.
Everything would have to wait until after the meeting to be settled.
“Everyone, you may disperse for now. The meeting is postponed by half an hour.”
Seeing that Yu Zi remained silent, Yu Yangyang took the initiative to speak first.
