Chapter 7: My Sister’s Success Was Truly Enviable
"Moving on, I will now present the benefits of our partnership regarding this project..."
The meeting lasted for a full five hours. After her initial introduction, Yu Zi conducted the remainder of the session entirely in English. Her fluency and clear, logical delivery quickly won over those who had initially harbored doubts about her. By the end of the meeting, the original thirty percent likelihood of collaboration had surged to eighty percent. The prospective partners could not stop praising her proposal.
Once the call ended, Yu Zi leaned back in her chair and let out a long, weary sigh. No one knew that her back was already drenched in sweat.
"At least the team's hard work wasn't in vain," she whispered to herself. As long as she secured this deal, even if the Yu Corporation failed to land another contract for the rest of the year, the profits from this partnership alone would double the previous year’s earnings. The company’s performance for the second half of the year was now secure.
Just then, the office door was pushed open. Yu Yangyang followed Yu Cheng inside, her face etched with unconcealed resentment.
Yu Cheng’s expression was one of excitement and thrill. Skipping any pleasantries, he went straight to the point. "Yu Zi, I heard that Mr. William is interested in working with you. Is this deal as good as done?"
Yu Zi glanced at him, showing no particular sign of pride, and simply gave a faint nod. "They are indeed interested. I will hold a meeting tomorrow to finalize the details."
Yu Cheng’s eyes brimmed with pride. "As expected of my daughter. Xiao Zi, your talent for business is truly remarkable." It was clear that he was genuinely happy; she was his daughter, after all, and he felt entitled to be proud.
Yu Zi had initially intended to retort, but seeing Yu Yangyang’s disgruntled expression behind him, she merely arched a brow and chose to remain silent.
This only fueled Yu Yangyang’s anger, and she couldn't help but let her voice drip with sarcasm. "Sister is truly impressive to have secured such a difficult project. I heard that others had tried and failed before, but you managed to pull it off. I really should learn from you, Sister."
Yu Zi looked up, a faint, mocking smile tugging at her lips. "Indeed. You have been with the company for a while now, yet your performance record is virtually zero. The only deal you have to your name was handed to you by someone else. You really do need to put in more effort; otherwise, if word gets out, it will be the Yu family that loses face."
Yu Yangyang’s eyes widened, and she opened her mouth to argue, but Yu Cheng furrowed his brows and chimed in.
He looked at Yu Yangyang thoughtfully, his eyes showing a hint of dissatisfaction. "Yangyang, your sister is right. I see that I have been too lenient with your training; I can no longer let things continue this way." His tone grew stern as he added, "I think you should stay by your sister’s side as her assistant. You haven't earned the respect required for the position of Vice President. You need to let Xiao Zi teach you a thing or two."
At these words, Yu Yangyang’s eyes widened in horror. "No! I refuse to be her errand girl! Father, you can't do this to me!"
Yu Zi had originally had no interest in managing her, but seeing Yu Yangyang’s fierce opposition, she suddenly felt a spark of defiance. "Since Father has spoken, I shall graciously accept. I will certainly 'guide' my dear sister well, so she doesn't embarrass us in the future."
Yu Cheng was highly satisfied with Yu Zi’s attitude. After a moment's thought, he pulled out a card and handed it to her. "There is ten million in here. Use it as you please; consider it a reward."
"No! I don't agree!"
