“Get out.”
Yu Zi closed her eyes and collapsed weakly onto the bed.
“You must be hungry. I’ll go get you something to eat.”
Xie Yuhuai gently stroked Yu Zi’s head, his voice tender and indulgent.
For one fleeting moment, Yu Zi felt as though they had returned to three years ago, when they had lived together.
Xie Yuhuai had been just as gentle then. No matter what happened, he would carefully prepare all three of her meals each day.
But the more beautiful the memories, the more cruel reality seemed now.
Xie Yuhuai, why did you betray me?
She had thought that after three years, her heart would no longer be stirred. Yet at that moment, it urged every organ in her body to erupt in a dense, spreading ache.
A pain that pierced her heart, sparing nothing.
“Get out.”
Yu Zi forced the words out coldly.
This time, Xie Yuhuai said nothing. He simply walked out.
Only after the hospital room fell silent again did Yu Zi close her eyes.
Thinking of the past, she drifted off to sleep without realizing it.
“Senior, please eat at least a little. You’ll be going into surgery soon.”
“I know I was the one who did wrong, but you still need to put your health first. Let me apologize to you, all right?”

When Yu Zi woke again, it was to the sound of voices in the hospital room.
By then, daylight had fully broken, and the sunlight was glaringly bright.
Yu Zi slowly opened her eyes to a narrow slit and saw Xu Nuo serving food to Xie Yuhuai.
The warm scene stung her eyes.
The dazed look in her eyes vanished at once, replaced by clarity.
Thinking of the kiss that morning, Yu Zi wished she could slap herself.
Yu Zi, do you see it now? That is his girlfriend.
This morning, you had even begun to waver. How pathetic!
At the thought, Yu Zi’s expression grew terribly grim. She opened her eyes and sat up quickly.
Only then did she notice that she was receiving an intravenous drip.
The discomfort in her body had already disappeared. Yu Zi frowned, then pulled the needle straight out the next second.
“Yu Zi, what are you doing!”
When Xie Yuhuai saw that Yu Zi was awake, the expression on his face immediately softened.
He had just been about to ask whether she wanted something to eat when he saw her roughly yank the needle from her arm.
His eyes widened. He tried to stop her, but it was already too late.
All he could do was cry out in near panic as he hurried over.
By then, Yu Zi had already climbed out of bed. She looked at Xie Yuhuai standing before her, her expression unreadable.

Seeing this, Xu Nuo took advantage of the fact that neither of them was paying attention to her. Her eyes filled with malice.
The next moment, she feigned surprise, pretending that she had only just noticed Yu Zi was awake, and said brightly,
“Senior, you’re awake! Would you like some porridge? I’ll serve you some right now. Senior has surgery coming up, and he loves the thick porridge I make in the morning. It still needs a little more flavor—why don’t you try some?”
Her words instantly conjured an image in Yu Zi’s mind.
Xu Nuo making porridge for Xie Yuhuai every day.
And Xie Yuhuai still wanting to rekindle his relationship with her.
Although Xie Yuhuai felt that Xu Nuo’s words were somewhat inappropriate, when he considered Yu Zi’s condition, he also thought it would be good for her to have some porridge.
So he nodded in agreement and offered sincerely,
“Yu Zi, your condition is still unstable. You’ll need to undergo another examination later.”
“Porridge really is good in the morning. Have some first to settle your stomach. Once the examination is over, I’ll take you to—”
But Xie Yuhuai never finished.
Yu Zi stared at him without blinking.
As he spoke, she suddenly raised her hand and struck him hard across the face once again.
“You shameless bastard. Get out, and stay away from me from now on!”
