Chapter 35: The Torrential Beast
The words hung in the air.
Taking advantage of Xie Yuhuai’s momentary daze, Yu Zi turned and walked away.
By the time Xie Yuhuai snapped back and chased after her, Yu Zi’s figure had already disappeared down the hospital corridor.
Beaten for no reason, Xie Yuhuai found Yu Zi utterly inexplicable.
He tried calling her, only to discover he had been blocked by her once again.
“Yu Zi!!!”
Clenching his teeth, Xie Yuhuai felt utterly helpless when it came to Yu Zi.
Just then, Xu Nuo emerged and, seeing Xie Yuhuai’s despondent expression, immediately understood the situation.
Yu Zi must have left already; a flicker of satisfaction gleamed in her eyes.
She hurried over to Xie Yuhuai’s side and spoke gently.
“Senior, girls are all like this. It’s clear that senior sister still has feelings for you.”
“But you’ve been trailing behind her all these years, and she’s used that fake death incident to make you feel guilty. Senior…”
Some things are best left unsaid, and Xu Nuo was well aware of the implication behind her words.
After saying this, she looked at Xie Yuhuai with a look full of sympathy.
Unexpectedly, upon hearing this, Xie Yuhuai let out a cold snort, his voice growing even more indifferent.
“Looks like the junior sister is just lovesick and wants a boyfriend to take care of her. If I happen to have someone suitable by my side and junior sister fancies her, feel free to tell me. I’ll definitely set you two up.”
At these words, tears immediately welled up in Xu Nuo’s eyes.
Unfortunately, Xie Yuhuai didn’t even glance back and strode straight ahead.
Xu Nuo clenched her fists tightly at her sides, her face contorted with rage.
…
“Sorry, Miss Yu, I don’t think we’re a good match.”
“Apologies, Miss Yu, I’m still young and not in a rush to marry.”
“Miss Yu, I… I’m just not interested in women. You’d better find someone else.”
After speaking, the casually dressed man dashed away as if someone were chasing him.
Yu Zi: …
She picked up the coffee on the table and took a gentle sip.
That was already the twenty-seventh cup she’d had this morning.
At first, these conversations had gone smoothly, but before long,
these people, as if threatened by someone, found excuses to leave one after another.
The rest all refused to meet with her, as she saw from her phone.
As for who was behind this, there was no one else in the world who would do such a thing.
“Xie Yuhuai, what exactly are you trying to do?”
Closing her eyes, before she could even relax for a moment, her phone rang again.
Yu Zi picked it up and saw it was a call from Yu Cheng.
The reason was obvious.
But thinking of the inheritance left by her mother, she could only answer the call expressionlessly.
“What is it?”
“Yu Zi, I’m giving you a chance. If you can find another suitable marriage match, I have nothing more to say.”
“But if within a week you still can’t find one, then you’d better obediently follow my arrangements and marry the young master of the Xie family. He’s your best option.”
Of course, it was a push for marriage.
Annoyance was clearly etched on Yu Zi’s face, but she could only reply.
“Understood.”
Then she hung up. Who knew, the very next second, her phone rang again—it was her assistant.
Her assistant knew what she had been busy with lately and wouldn’t disturb her without a serious reason.
With that in mind, she immediately answered.
“What is it?”
Without wasting words, her assistant’s anxious voice came through.
“President Yu, you need to come back quickly. There’s a problem with the project.”
