June 6th, 6666 AD, was a grand and auspicious day for the citizens of the Huaxia Nation. On this day, countless couples gathered to marry, hoping that such a rare and lucky date—six sixes in succession—would bring harmony and prosperity to their families.

Even though humanity had already ventured into outer space, the people of Huaxia still believed that only on fortunate days could things proceed smoothly. Ke Yuandao and Le Yixian were one of the many couples choosing this extraordinary day for their wedding.

Le Yixian, having finished her makeup and changed into her wedding attire, was discussing the evening look with her makeup artist when Li Yue, dressed in a bridesmaid’s gown, rushed in with a panicked expression. “Yixian, something’s happened!”

The lively wedding plunged into chaos.

Le Yixian didn’t even have time to change out of her white wedding dress before hurrying to the city hospital.

Outside the operating room, a terrifying red light flashed. The group of groomsmen pacing anxiously saw Le Yixian rushing down the corridor and hurried to meet her. “Sister-in-law!”

“How is he?” Le Yixian’s face was so pale it was frightening.

Ming Duxing, his hands stained with dark red blood, shook his head. “He’s still being resuscitated,” he paused, “A flowerpot suddenly fell from above and struck Yuandao’s head directly…”

At this point, he wiped his face with trembling force. “If only we had been more careful.”

“You can’t blame yourselves,” Le Yixian’s expression was vacant, her voice barely a whisper. “After all, disasters—natural or man-made—are hard to avoid.”

Ming Duxing opened his mouth but could find no words of comfort.

Time seemed to stretch endlessly before the red light turned green. A doctor in a white coat emerged, and everyone crowded forward.

“Doctor, how is he?”

“The patient’s brain was hit. The family should prepare themselves,” the doctor said, and Le Yixian nearly collapsed onto the floor, only staying upright thanks to Li Yue’s support.

“Yixian, calm down. That rascal Ke Yuandao finally got what he wanted; he won’t go so easily,” Li Yue tried to comfort her, then looked up at the doctor. “Second Uncle, is there really nothing else that can be done?”

The doctor shook his head. “His mental strength is very weak now. To be safe, we’ve placed him in the nutrition chamber. He doesn’t have much time left. The family may go in to say goodbye.”

Le Yixian could barely hear the rest. Lifting her dust-stained wedding skirt, she staggered into the operating room.

In the center stood a silver, oval-shaped nutrition chamber.

Through the glass, she saw Ke Yuandao’s pale, handsome face, devoid of any color.

She stood before the chamber, unmoving.

No one dared disturb her.

After an indeterminate time, Le Yixian stirred and sought out her close friend.

Ten minutes later, Li Yue nearly jumped up in shock. “You’re saying you want to try the Deep Consciousness Immersion Plan?”

Before Le Yixian could respond, she refused outright, “No, absolutely not! The Deep Consciousness Immersion Plan is still under development and very risky. Even if you could save Ke Yuandao, you might lose yourself.”

Deep Consciousness Immersion was the latest therapeutic product jointly developed by Ke Yuandao’s company and Li Yue’s family hospital, mainly intended for patients in a vegetative state.

Ke Yuandao believed that such patients remained asleep because their mental activity was too subdued or in a dormant state, preventing awakening. His approach used specialized machinery to enter the patient’s mind, engaging their brain cells with stories to stimulate activity and hopefully bring them back.

The plan was nearing completion but had never been tried. If anything went wrong, Ke Yuandao in the chamber could die, and Le Yixian, assisting him, would be at risk as well—hence Li Yue’s refusal.

“Li Yue,” Le Yixian looked at her friend with unwavering resolve. “If he dies, this world means nothing to me.”

“If you won’t help me, I’ll find another doctor. I’m sure many would be interested in such an experimental treatment.”

Stunned by her friend’s words, Li Yue stared at her. “Are you still the Le Yixian I know? Is he really worth it?”

“He’s worth it,” Le Yixian nodded without hesitation. “Your uncle said he doesn’t have much time left, but I want to keep living with him. If there’s even a sliver of hope, I won’t give up.”

Seeing her friend’s determination, Li Yue was so angry she nearly felt pain in her liver. “Fine, fine, I’ll help you. I’ll make it happen for you two!”

With that, she stomped off to make preparations.

The mental treatment required an assistant to help stimulate the patient’s brain cells.

Le Yixian lay on the hospital bed beside the nutrition chamber, her body covered with wires connecting her to Ke Yuandao inside.

“Remember, once you enter his mind, be careful. In the world of consciousness, he is like a god. Don’t provoke him; go slowly and follow his lead. If anything happens, press the watch on your wrist—it’s the exit button!” Though she didn’t approve of this approach and was still angry, Li Yue couldn’t help but nag her with instructions.

Le Yixian nodded. “Thank you, Li Yue.”

“Thank me for nothing,” Li Yue wiped her face and growled, “When Ke Yuandao wakes up, I’m going to give him a good beating.”

“If neither of us come back, please…”

“Refuse. Whatever happens, you handle it yourself. I won’t help you.” Li Yue interrupted swiftly.

Le Yixian smiled helplessly, saying no more.

After all, everything that needed to be explained was already written; if anything happened, the lawyer would discover the email she’d left.

The treatment began. Le Yixian closed her eyes.

She felt the world spin, and when things returned to normal, she heard birdsong and the faint scent of gardenia blossoms.

“Sister Yixian,” a timid voice sounded in her ear.

Le Yixian opened her eyes and saw a nervous young boy in school uniform before her. She almost cried out, but remembered this was part of the treatment and held back.

Standing before her, Ke Yuandao looked fresh-faced, lacking the maturity and reason of later years—a shy high school student.

Le Yixian tried to recall when this scene had happened. The Ke Yuandao before her blushed, handing her a pink letter. “Sister Yixian, I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?”

Le Yixian: …

She remembered now—this was the first time Ke Yuandao confessed to her. How had she responded then? Right, she coldly refused, saying she didn’t like relationships with younger men at all.
