Chapter 002: The Diary

“Sister Yixian, I really like you. Will you be my girlfriend?” The pale pink love letter in Ke Yuandao’s youthful hand trembled slightly, and his long, dark eyes stared straight at Le Yixian.
Le Yixian gazed at the boy before her, whose emotions were written openly across his face. She wished she could pinch his cheeks—he was simply too adorable.
“Sister Yixian, will you accept my confession?” Ke Yuandao saw that Le Yixian remained silent, and his head drooped, his voice tinged with disappointment. “I really, really like you.”
I know, Le Yixian replied silently in her heart. She recalled Li Yue’s advice: in his dream, she must follow his wishes if she hoped to awaken his consciousness.
So, she reached out and took the love letter from Ke Yuandao’s hand. “Yes, I accept your confession.”
Ke Yuandao felt his hand suddenly empty, and then a voice—almost like a hallucination—echoed in his ear. He looked up, disbelief clouding his gaze, staring woodenly at the gentle, smiling girl before him. His voice quivered. “Sister Yixian, what did you just say?”
“I said, I accept your confession.” Le Yixian’s lips curved into a smile, her eyes glinting mischievously. Suddenly playful, she hooked a finger beneath his chin—yes, during high school Ke Yuandao was a head shorter than her—and spoke with a teasing, almost roguish tone: “What, you don’t believe me? I really do like you!”
With that, she blew softly next to his already crimson ear.
Instantly, Ke Yuandao’s handsome face flushed bright red, impossibly cute.
A strange, satisfying feeling welled up in Le Yixian’s heart. No wonder rascals favored pure-hearted girls—their reactions were truly irresistible.
“You…” Ke Yuandao paused. When he looked up again, all shyness had vanished from his ink-dark eyes, replaced by a cold, distant expression. “You’re not Sister Yixian. Get out!”
What? Before Le Yixian could react, the world spun around her. When she opened her eyes again, she saw the pale ceiling of the hospital.
“What the hell did you do? His consciousness is even weaker now!” Li Yue’s voice rang in her ears.
Lying in bed, Le Yixian looked confused. “I don’t know.”
She had only accepted his confession.
After hearing Le Yixian recount the entire process, Li Yue analyzed, “I think you shouldn’t have accepted him. You should have answered exactly as you did back then. Now he’s trapped in his own memories. If your answer doesn’t match, he’ll fall into self-doubt, and his consciousness will weaken.”
Le Yixian felt uncertain. “If I accepted him, shouldn’t he be happy?” Why was she still kicked out of his consciousness?
“Ask him yourself. Maybe he was a bit obsessive back in his student days.” Li Yue rolled her eyes and asked if she wanted to continue the treatment. Le Yixian insisted she would.
Before they began, Li Yue reminded her repeatedly: answer exactly as she did at the time, or Ke Yuandao’s consciousness would become even weaker.

“Sister Yixian, I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?” The youthful voice sounded again. Le Yixian looked at the boy before her and smiled.
“Sorry, I don’t want to date anyone right now,” she replied confidently. After all, she’d used this excuse to reject countless confessions from boys and girls back then.
But when she saw the cold look in Ke Yuandao’s eyes, she knew something was wrong. Again, she was expelled from his consciousness.
Li Yue, who had been waiting by the bedside, wasn’t surprised to see her thrown out. She glanced at Ke Yuandao’s life monitor and asked calmly, “Alright, what happened this time?”
Le Yixian wiped her face and sighed. “I rejected him.”
Why was she still expelled? She couldn’t understand.
“From a medical perspective, to treat the patient, you have to understand the root of the illness,” Li Yue suddenly remarked.
Le Yixian looked at her, puzzled. Li Yue pulled a familiar dark blue quantum computer from her pocket. “As far as I know, that brat Ke Yuandao always kept a diary!”
If you want to know how you answered back then, it’s simple—just check his diary.
“Isn’t this a bit inappropriate?” Le Yixian frowned slightly. Though they loved each other, they always respected each other’s privacy.
“Are you going to look or not?” Li Yue asked, holding out the quantum computer.
“Look!” Le Yixian replied without hesitation.
She took the quantum computer. To her surprise, the device—which usually required a high-level password—flashed blue as soon as it touched her hand, scanned her, and a synthesized electronic voice chimed, “Beep beep, user confirmed. Highest access granted to Miss Le Yixian!”
“What a show of affection,” Li Yue muttered. In this age, almost everything in a person’s life could be managed through their quantum computer—it was one of the most vital possessions. That brat Ke Yuandao had given Le Yixian the highest access, proof of how deeply he loved her.
“Dogsheng, search for any diary entry about Yuandao’s first confession to me,” Le Yixian commanded. As for the name Dogsheng, Ke Yuandao had once explained: a humble name is easy to keep alive. Dogsheng was a quantum system developed by his own company, and he wanted it to make big money.
“Searching,” Dogsheng replied.
Just as Li Yue expected, Ke Yuandao had indeed written a detailed account of his confession that day in his diary, and Le Yixian’s long-buried memories were awakened.
Reading the final paragraph, Le Yixian felt her nose sting.

The treatment continued.
“Sister Yixian, I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?” The boy’s voice was nervous.
“You like me? And what gives you the right to like me?”
“I…”
“You’re just a short kid, your grades have never made the top ten in the year, you’re slow and not clever. What makes you think you can like me?”
“I… I’ll grow taller, and I’ll work hard to make it into the top ten,” the boy’s youthful voice was resolute.
“Get lost. I’m fed up with all you pursuers. None of you even know what I like, you just confess out of nowhere. What’s the point?”
“No, I know. Sister Yixian likes comics, likes novels, likes sleeping. I really, really like you!”
“This time was a success. His consciousness has strengthened.” Li Yue’s words brought relief to Le Yixian as she emerged from the consciousness world.

Ke Yuandao’s Diary:
April 3rd, xxxx
…
Although Sister Yixian rejected me, I’m still happy. She knows I’m short, that my grades never reach the top ten, and she cares about me. Besides, today’s goal was achieved.
Sister Yixian also knows that in this world, there really is someone who loves her. I love her deeply, hopelessly.
