Mo Zhixing paused briefly, then replied, “Hmm, a bet is a bet; the clothes are yours now. Ah-choo~”

Chen Fan glanced at the soaked, faded garment and waved his hand repeatedly. “No, keep the clothes for yourself. We’ll talk about swimming tomorrow night.”

“Ah-choo~ alright.”

Mo Zhixing got up and wrung the water out of his clothes, then, feeling the faint dawn light, returned to his bed.

“Advisor, why are you dressed like that? Where’s that white outfit with the shining feathers?” Guan Yu at position eight couldn’t help but ask upon seeing Kong Ming in servant’s attire.

“If I said I died battling a river monster on the water and lost all my gear, would you believe me?” Mo Zhixing felt a bit embarrassed, but luckily no one realized that the clothes were actually a maid’s dress—an authentic female outfit.

“I’d believe it. Look at Zhang Fei over there—he lost a bet with an NPC last night and ended up without even his underwear. Now he’s wrapped in a tent cloth to cover himself. Hahaha,” the bearded lord chuckled but the Green Dragon Crescent Blade was nowhere to be seen.

Zhuge Liang asked, “Where’s the big sword you wielded yesterday? Why didn’t you bring it out?”

“Hahaha, naturally I forgot it,” Guan Yu smiled, careful not to reveal any clues.

“Silence! I’ve changed my mind. I’ve decided to fight to the end with Cao Cao. Now, I need you to choose a captain amongst yourselves. Those interested, please raise your hands,” Sun Quan declared, holding the tiger tally and banging the table to command attention.

“That Sun Quan is really fickle,” Chen Fan muttered inwardly.

The ‘idiot’ role demanded zero mistakes, and chances to follow rounds were limited. Chen Fan decided to hold back for a round and save his ‘silver water’ (a kind of verified player role) reveal for the next day.

The nearby Zhuge Liang became Chen Fan’s focus for observation. Generally, werewolf cards that self-identify tend to trigger alarms and reveal identities. Since this guy did so openly, if he was a good role, he’d likely show signs rather than stay quietly under suspicion.

The time limit expired, but Zhuge Liang did not raise his hand. Chen Fan preliminarily deduced that this card could guarantee a spot in the finals and withdrew his gaze, noting only four people were on ‘alert’ status.

Yun Chang at position eight spoke, “Hello everyone, remember me? I’m Yun Chang, the MC from yesterday. The last performance had some mishaps and spoiled everyone’s fun. Forget that; during the game, we need to be serious. I’m on alert only to avoid voting. I’m a civilian card—pass.”

Chen Fan began setting a werewolf trap. With only four on alert, it was likely only the ‘reckless jumpers’ were on alert, and others were waiting under suspicion to strike or agitate. Of course, this assumed the overall player skill level was roughly equal.

The surge in entries for this year’s Werewolf King Championship was not only due to the club’s promotion but largely thanks to the VR gimmick. Many players didn’t even know how many people played Werewolf and signed up just to enjoy a free VR experience.

“Eight gold water, positions 1 and 3 verified. But either 1 or 3 will probably challenge me, so it’s a foolish game favoring werewolves. Let’s look at the next two speakers. If both pass, I’ll verify someone under suspicion. Good people, don’t abstain; don’t fear picking the wrong side,” Zhao Zilong at position twelve spoke fluently, his speech flowing smoothly — almost certainly a veteran.

“Good, the state’s decent. If he’s on our side, we’re stable,” Chen Fan judged briefly.

Position one, Lu Su, made a subtle claim: “I’m not the seer, but I’m a civilian or above. Didn’t expect so few on alert. Let’s see if this black-faced guy at the back jumps. If not, I’ll follow the alert flow; if he jumps, we’ll reconsider. Pass.”

“No wonder they call him the peacemaker; his tone sounds like he’s trying to smooth things over,” Chen Fan noted all the alert players’ speeches mentally.

“What black-faced? I was quite fair, thank you. I’m the seer. Yesterday I verified position two as gold water. Let’s check positions four and five next. Zhao Zilong at twelve jumped recklessly and labeled me a werewolf. Two alert speakers are decent; the wolves must be under suspicion, desperately wanting the alert badge. Pass.”

Now things were getting complicated. Both seers had verified gold water, which was unconvincing. Looking at delivery, Zhao Zilong’s speech was clearly better, but Chen Fan decided to hold back a round and observe voting patterns before choosing sides.

“Zilong, my tiger tally is yours now,” Sun Quan said, splitting the tiger tally in half and handing one to Zhao Zilong.

“Huh? What’s this alliance about?”

Voting was tight. Zhao Zilong at twelve received votes from positions two, seven, and eight, while Zhang Fei at three got votes from four and nine.

“Position one, please speak,” Lu Su admitted confusion about the voting pattern: “Since no one died, the witch must have used their potion. After the sheriff called for votes, abstainers were me, five, six, ten, and eleven. I can’t guarantee, but at least three of these are probably good people confused by the situation. The rest, you can figure out yourselves.”

Position two, Huang Zhong, answered without hesitation: “Position three verified me as gold water. I immediately voted for twelve, so I’m the highest role, right? Three, you can verify me next for double gold water, but if you trust me, check those who voted from outside positions. I suggest both seers hold for a round. Who to reveal is your call, but it definitely won’t be us two.”

“Who plays gold water like that? Hesitant and timid. Werewolf is about boldness. There’s a twelve openly challenging me. If the outside positions reveal good people, what then? I’ll check position eight’s identity today. Though I don’t hold the sheriff’s badge, good people shouldn’t fear it—be brave and confront me.”

Then, Zhang Fei at position three addressed the good players: “Today’s round is definitely between me and twelve. If the outside positions go to the wrong person, this game will collapse. The witch’s potion is gone, the sheriff badge is still with the wolves. If you believe my gold water and assign outside positions accordingly, the sheriff will either randomly pick a civilian to bear the push or force me to come out. Think carefully.”

“The situation’s warming up. Ah, facing such a headache on day one. If only I had come with an idiot’s halo,” Chen Fan patted his wooden head. The game’s first day was already this tangled—truly vexing.

Positions four and five gave weak statements, offering no valuable clues. If forced to endure pressure, these two would be the best choices.

“Should I reveal a silver water?” Chen Fan glanced around, feeling that revealing a silver water under suspicion wouldn’t help much and might expose himself. He changed course: “I personally lean toward revealing one of the seers this round. The sheriff at twelve hasn’t spoken yet, so it’s uncertain. Zhang Fei at three is performing well this round. I’ll focus on seven, eight, and nine’s speeches next.”

“Want to hear my speech? It’ll be short. I’m a strong role in good form. If twelve’s speech passes, I’ll keep siding with him; if not, I’ll switch. One of the two must come out today,” Zhuge Liang confidently rested on the table, his brows radiating assurance.

“If you say you’re a strong role, then if I’m the witch, you must be…” Chen Fan pondered and slowly set the werewolf trap.
