Chapter Fifty-Five: The Battle of the Sacred Domain
Standing on the ground, Wang Luo gazed up at the colossal figure in the sky. Four claws, crackling with lightning, gleamed with a chilling light—obvious instruments of destruction. A tail, more than ten meters long, swept softly behind, stirring up a small tempest. Every detail proclaimed the creature’s might and revealed its identity.
“Thunder Dragon!” Wang Luo murmured in shock. After a brief daze, he quickly regained composure, pulling out a beast hide talisman and pressing it to his body to mask his presence. At the same time, he began circulating his energy to resist the dragon’s aura, his mind recalling everything he knew about the Thunder Dragon.
Thunder Dragons were among the lightning-aligned great dragons, boasting powerful bodies and fierce, domineering lightning magic. Their speed rivaled the thunder itself. Even among their kin, Thunder Dragons were formidable. The Welsh Empire had four Dragon Knights, and the highest ranked of them was the Thunder Dragon Knight—a human and dragon in perfect union, comparable to a Saint-level powerhouse.
“Reggie, if you dare come any closer, I’ll self-destruct!” A hoarse voice suddenly echoed from the sky. Following the sound, Wang Luo looked over and finally noticed, some hundreds of meters away from the Thunder Dragon, a black-clad figure nearly swallowed by darkness, floating in midair with a pitch-black staff in hand—its magical crystal now utterly dim.
“Blackru, hand over the token and we’ll part ways. More Saint-levels are on their way—when they arrive, neither of us will gain anything!” The voice came from the figure atop the Thunder Dragon, armored head to toe in purple. His booming words left no doubt as to their source.
“Reggie, do you take me for a fool? I’m telling you, someone will be here within half an hour—let me go now, or you’ll get nothing either!” Blackru’s raspy voice sounded again.
“That depends on whether you can last that long!” Even before Reggie finished speaking, two bolts of deep violet lightning shot toward Blackru. Cursing furiously, Blackru hastily launched a jet-black spear of magic to intercept one bolt, but the other struck him squarely.
A black tortoiseshell suddenly manifested, floating before Blackru and absorbing the lightning strike. Seizing the moment, Blackru withdrew, but a massive violet figure was even faster—flashing in to block Blackru’s escape, launching an attack.
As Reggie’s hand seals changed, a great purple-gold sword soared into the air, trailing arcs of violet lightning as it stabbed toward Blackru. At the same time, the Thunder Dragon unleashed another bolt of deep violet lightning, chasing after the sword in tandem.
Blackru’s staff rose into the air as well, pulsing with jet-black light, and collided with the purple-gold sword. The instant they met, an explosion erupted.
A deafening boom reached Wang Luo, hidden in the grass. He couldn’t help but spit out a mouthful of blood, while his three beast companions showed clear signs of pain.
“You go too far!” Blackru glanced at the distant, dark sky, sensing others rapidly approaching. His expression changed, and he turned a savage glare on Reggie and the Thunder Dragon, shouting in fury as he charged at them.
“Retreat!” Reggie’s expression shifted as Blackru streaked toward them, wreathed in violent black light. He called out to the Thunder Dragon beneath him.
But before Reggie could even command, the Thunder Dragon had already prepared to dodge with lightning speed. Yet, in that instant, countless black threads suddenly flashed into existence, binding the dragon tightly in place. The Thunder Dragon roared at the sky, struggling to break free.
Sensing the violent surge of energy in the sky, Wang Luo wasted no time—he formed a seal with his hands, his skin flushing red and bursting open. Streams of multicolored energy-laced blood transformed into a thick blood mist, enveloping himself and the three beasts.
“Too late—hahaha…” Blackru laughed as he appeared close to the Thunder Dragon, then his body exploded before Reggie and the dragon’s shocked eyes. In the midst of the chaos, a jet-black token shot toward the grass where Wang Luo hid.
A thunderous, earth-shattering blast shook the heavens. Reggie and the Thunder Dragon, having just broken free from the black threads, barely managed to raise a wall of lightning before being engulfed by the explosion. The token, propelled by the blast, accelerated and shot unerringly into the blood mist surrounding Wang Luo.
Boom—boom—boom… The explosive energy rampaged wildly, buffeting the blood mist across the ground, scattering it in all directions. Though battered and weakened by each shockwave, the mist would instantly reform.
As the cataclysmic energy gradually faded, rain ceased unknowingly, and the wind died down. Two full moons hung quietly in the sky, casting silvery light upon the ravaged earth.
Within a crater nearly a kilometer wide, a blood-red mist slowly dissipated, revealing Wang Luo—his body bloodied, skin torn and mangled—and the three little beasts, their fur in disarray but their cuteness undiminished.
Pale-faced, Wang Luo forced himself to sit up despite the stabbing pain all over his body, gazing in disbelief at the vast crater around him.
Nearby, the Thunder Dragon—its scales badly damaged—lay gasping for breath. On its back sat the battered Reggie in his tattered purple armor, holding only half a purple greatsword.
After swallowing a few pills, Reggie looked at Wang Luo, a thoughtful and shocked light in his eyes. He had never expected Wang Luo to survive Blackru’s self-destruction. Though covered in wounds, his survival would surely stun the entire Celestial Profound Continent.
“So this is the power of a Saint-level expert? This was only the aftermath…” Wang Luo murmured in awe, staring at the crater.
After giving the Thunder Dragon some medicine, Reggie stood, glanced at the approaching aura in the distance, and with a flash of cold light in his eyes, reached out and grabbed Wang Luo. The Thunder Dragon growled low, slowly took flight, and disappeared into the horizon.
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll kill you?” Seated on the Thunder Dragon’s back, Reggie looked with interest at Wang Luo, who showed no fear as he sat cross-legged, quietly recovering nearby.
“If you wanted me dead, you’d have already done it. I don’t have the slightest power to resist.” Wang Luo replied calmly, though inwardly he was searching for a way out. The token was already tucked safely in his spatial ring. He wasn’t sure if Reggie had captured him because of it, and since he had no way to resist, he could only adapt to the situation.
“You’re very clever.” Reggie praised him without hesitation. Suddenly, his expression hardened and a surge of violet electricity crackled from his hand, instantly entering Wang Luo’s body.
