Chapter Eighty-Eight: Making Amends (Part One)

Three days passed in the blink of an eye. Hanrod, who had been sitting in meditation outside the magical earthen wall, opened his eyes with a complicated look.

He had gone out several times during that time, so he naturally knew what had happened outside. He also knew certain hidden secrets that ordinary people never heard of, and understood what that sudden omen meant.

When he saw the dark azure serpent, he had immediately remembered those secrets, the things he had once mocked as nonsense. Back then he had not stopped Warren because he believed Warren could not possibly break through the serpent’s defenses, and because he had only just awakened his own desires and did not want to hinder Warren.

But when the omen suddenly appeared, he knew he had underestimated Warren. After a long struggle of hesitation, he finally made a decision: he would protect the man who had taken his first time. Yet even now, his heart was still tangled and unsettled.

“Sigh... let me go mad for you once. After this chaos is over, if I am still alive, I will begin properly courting you.”

Muttering to himself inwardly, Hanrod’s eyes suddenly lit up. He rose to his feet and looked toward the cave in shock and uncertainty, where a terrifying spatial fluctuation had just exploded.

Inside the pit, the massive body of the dark azure serpent trembled violently, struggling again and again. Its eyelids quivered incessantly, yet it never opened its eyes. Its mouth parted slightly, revealing a nearly imperceptible slit, from which came a harsh, agonized roar.

A steady stream of blood shot endlessly from beneath the dark azure serpent and flew into Warren’s slightly open mouth not far away. His body-tempering technique was already in motion, and vast amounts of blood energy began gathering toward his heart.

Not far away, the tusked boar guarded the surroundings with vigilance. Now and then it looked back, its eyes showing a faint trace of sorrow. From time to time it would emit a few low growls, whether to comfort the dark azure serpent, beg Warren for mercy, or warn someone outside the magical earthen wall, no one could tell.

Once a magical beast surrendered, it would generally never betray its master. Even if the master ordered it to die, it would not hesitate in the slightest. The lower the beast’s intelligence, the greater its loyalty. Of course, there were exceptions.

The tusked boar was not of low intelligence, but neither was it an exception. Magical beasts had feelings too. It had lived with the dark azure serpent for a long time and had absorbed much of its essence, so its concern was only natural.

Warren had just saved its life. It had already expressed submission to him and acknowledged him as master, so it naturally would not betray Warren. Moreover, Warren had already told it that he would not harm the dark azure serpent’s life, and it believed its master.

Then came a tearing sound.

Suddenly, the sound of space shattering rang out. The tusked boar turned sharply and saw a pitch-black fissure appear above the dark azure serpent. From within, a faint, miserable shriek could be heard.

Then, without warning, a strange crying sound erupted, and a small black monkey flew out of the crack with its eyes still unopened, rushing straight toward Warren.

The tusked boar let out a low growl and stamped the ground, about to charge forward and knock away that newly appeared little black monkey that had interrupted Warren. But before it could exert any force, the monkey was already caught by a hand.

The boar uttered a puzzled grunt and stepped closer, looking curiously at the little black monkey nestled in Warren’s arms, unable to understand why Warren would protect this newly born magical beast.

A piercing scream suddenly came from the pitch-black fissure. The little black monkey immediately began to struggle, its limbs twitching wildly as it tried to stand, but it had only just been born and was far too weak.

Then a burst of explosion sounded. The black fissure that had only just opened shattered instantly, and a streak of black light shot out at the last possible moment, intending to fly into the little black monkey’s body, only to be intercepted by a ray of blood-red light.

“What happened? I just felt a strong spatial fluctuation!”

Hanrod, worried for Warren’s safety, hesitated for a moment outside before directly breaking through the magical earthen wall and appearing inside the pit. By then, the cave had basically returned to normal, except that the azure glow on the dark azure serpent’s body had dimmed considerably, and a small black monkey now rested in Warren’s arms.

“Teacher Hanrod, do you know someone named Chelsea?”

Seeing Hanrod, Warren’s expression became very unnatural. The scenes from earlier seemed to still be replaying in his mind. The man in front of him was his second man.

“Chelsea of the River family?”

Seeing that Warren did not show any sign of disgust, and after hesitating for quite some time instead of simply leaving, Hanrod could not help feeling delighted when Warren spoke to him.

“Yes. I think you might be able to talk to him.”

After saying that, Hanrod’s expression changed, and Warren paused slightly before continuing.

“In the place where I used to live, there were not only love between men, but also love between women. They were called gays and lesbians. I do not dislike such things, because I never imagined that this would happen to me. I think what happened between us was only an accident, just like what happened between me and Chelsea.”

“You and Chelsea? You two?”

Hanrod’s expression changed again, and he looked at Warren in disbelief, as though meeting him for the first time.

“Yes. At that time I was unconscious and knew nothing. When I woke up... no matter what, I hope you can find a boyfriend who loves you.”

Warren finished that sentence with difficulty. He had originally intended to flee immediately, but when he saw the bitterness at the corner of Hanrod’s mouth, he could not help feeling a wave of reluctance. His steps paused slightly, and he continued speaking.

“Actually, there are quite a lot of gay men. It is just that this counts as forbidden love, so all of them prefer to hide in the shadows. But where I came from, there are still gay bars, gay bathhouses, and a whole range of places where they gather. I believe the Azure Profound Continent has things like that too, so you can pay attention.”

“Being gay is not wrong. You do not need any psychological burden. You should accept it calmly, otherwise it will affect your state of mind. Things among gay men are very complicated, and you do not understand this side of it, so you must be careful.”

After saying all this, Warren gave a soft sigh in his heart. Holding the little black monkey, who had somehow fallen asleep, he turned and walked out of the pit.

“Warren, you should know that every time I ravage you, I am deliberately taking advantage of you. We have been together for some time now, and I want to know... have you ever liked me?”

At the voice from behind him, Warren’s steps could not help but falter again. Those repeated bodily contacts, his outwardly intense disgust—had his heart secretly concealed a trace of pleasure as well? He did not know. He only knew that he was not gay. He did not like men. He was absolutely not one of them...

“Warren...”

Without the slightest hesitation, the moment Warren’s steps stopped, Hanrod flashed forward and appeared beside him, pulling Warren into his arms. He leaned close to Warren’s ear and murmured softly.
