Chapter Eighty-Six: The Giant Mushroom
Bang—
Just as the bone sword was about to strike the blue serpent, an intense blue light suddenly surged from within its body, blasting Wang Luo away and slamming him hard against the magic earth wall, even punching straight through it.
Standing outside, Han Rode suddenly sensed a powerful surge of water element. Before he could react, a dark figure burst through the wall, hurtling straight toward him—it was none other than Wang Luo, still reeling from the shock.
“Wang Luo!”
Without any hesitation, green light flashed as Han Rode leapt to catch Wang Luo. But before he could reach him, Wang Luo’s body twisted oddly in midair, abruptly veering off his original trajectory and crashing to the side.
Boom—
The small, thin body slammed hard into the soil. Han Rode stopped in place, silently watching the battered figure crawl out of the dirt, making no move to approach.
“Cough, cough…”
Brushing earth from his clothes, Wang Luo coughed lightly, his brows tightly knitted. His gaze toward the blue serpent in the cave grew more grave. He had struck with all his might, yet not only did he fail to breach the serpent’s defenses, he was even sent flying by the rebound.
“That is the Azure-Blue Serpent, a peak ninth-rank water-type magical beast. It’s said that twelve peak ninth-rank magical beasts are sealed beneath the City of Decay. No one knows why they were sealed there, or by whom!”
“I used to think it was all myth, but now it seems it might be true. With your strength, there’s no way you can break through the Azure-Blue Serpent’s defenses. The might of a peak ninth-rank magical beast is beyond your imagination!”
Casting Han Rode an annoyed look, Wang Luo ignored him and re-entered the cave, conjuring a new magic earth wall and staring intently at the Azure-Blue Serpent’s massive form, lost in thought.
“Azure-Blue Serpent, ninth-rank magical beast—I definitely can’t break its defenses. What should I do? Brute force won’t work, and I don’t seem to have anything suitable in my spatial ring…”
Pacing circles around the Azure-Blue Serpent, Wang Luo stroked his chin, pondering ways to breach its defenses. All he wanted was to make a small cut—a wound just large enough for blood to flow.
The moment he saw the serpent, hope had sparked in his heart—hope for shattering the violet thunderlight that Reggie had placed within him. He was convinced that if he could absorb and refine the Azure-Blue Serpent’s blood, he could burst through the thunderlight barrier enshrouding his heart.
“Wang Luo, dawn has come. I’ll head out first. Whatever you do, don’t hurt yourself!”
Hearing Han Rode’s voice, Wang Luo glanced toward the cave entrance, then circled the Azure-Blue Serpent a few more times, still finding no solution.
Oink oink—
Suddenly, a delighted grunt rang out. Following the sound, Wang Luo saw the earthen mist swirling around the Fanged Boar, which then swiftly dissipated, revealing the beast’s now greatly enlarged frame.
Having broken through to the fourth rank, the Fanged Boar spotted Wang Luo by the serpent’s side and scurried over, oinking excitedly and glancing back at the Azure-Blue Serpent from time to time.
Watching the Fanged Boar prattle on, Wang Luo was at a loss—he understood nothing. But he could sense the boar’s excitement and knew whatever it was trying to say certainly concerned the Azure-Blue Serpent.
Glancing between the Fanged Boar and the serpent, Wang Luo cut off the boar’s chatter with a wave, sending it off to play. He had no patience for games at such a moment.
Oink!
The Fanged Boar obediently squealed, cast Wang Luo a look, and trotted toward the cave entrance, but not without stealing a glance at the lower half of the Azure-Blue Serpent, its eyes filled with crazed fascination.
Wang Luo shook his head speechlessly at the boar’s behavior. A certain large mushroom flashed in his mind, and his expression grew somewhat peculiar.
Suddenly, inspiration struck. Wang Luo’s face lit up with joy as he fixed his gaze on the serpent’s lower body. After a moment's hesitation, he strode over.
“Fanged Boar, come here. Find the spot you were just licking!”
In that instant, Wang Luo had thought of a cunning way to breach the Azure-Blue Serpent’s defenses. It was underhanded and rather unscrupulous, but he couldn’t be bothered by such things—he needed to recover his strength quickly.
With the Fanged Boar’s help, Wang Luo soon found the spot where the tough mushroom grew. The fissure there had already closed, making it identical to the surrounding scales. If he hadn’t seen it himself, he would never have suspected a mushroom could emerge from that place.
With a thought, a fresh herb appeared in Wang Luo’s hand. It looked lovely, a cluster of emerald leaves adorned with small pink blossoms—quite charming.
Though it contained little elemental energy and was nearly useless for magic or martial cultivation, lacking any special properties like longevity or enhancement, it was nonetheless popular on the Xuan Continent, especially among the nobility.
“Little Pink Flower!”
That was its name—plain, even a bit vulgar, but its effects were anything but. Comparable to Viagra on Earth, it was even more potent.
Not only did it work for both men and women, its effects were long-lasting. After taking it, a man would become as fierce as a tiger, with stamina to match. For women, their first dose could restore the sensations of their first time, not only binding their man tightly, but also greatly enhancing their own pleasure.
With a gentle squeeze, the Little Pink Flower turned into a rosy liquid that slid down Wang Luo’s palm, dripping silently onto the Azure-Blue Serpent’s body and seeping quietly within.
Oink oink—
The Fanged Boar looked at Wang Luo in confusion, then at the serpent, not understanding why Wang Luo was smearing herbal juice on it. But with its intelligence rising along with its strength, the boar did not ask further and followed Wang Luo aside, still oinking softly.
Crack—
A soft sound came from the Azure-Blue Serpent’s body. The Fanged Boar, lying on the ground, immediately raised its head and saw the large mushroom appear once more. After a moment’s surprise, it leapt forward in excitement—it had never seen the serpent’s mushroom emerge twice in succession.
Swish—
The Fanged Boar was quick, but Wang Luo was quicker. The instant the large mushroom appeared, a dagger flashed into his hand, and in a blur, he was beside the crimson mushroom. Without hesitation, he drove the blade into its base, piercing into the Azure-Blue Serpent’s body.
Hiss hiss—
The Azure-Blue Serpent, previously silent and still, convulsed violently, hissing in pain as intense blue light flared from its body, blasting out and carving a human-shaped tunnel into the earth.
Hiss hiss—
The serpent kept shrieking, struggling with all its might, but at some point, countless blood-red runes had appeared, binding it tightly and emitting a faint crimson glow…
