Chapter 77: Little Rascal?
“Lisa, what kind of person do you think the new transfer student is? Why would they suddenly transfer to our class?”
In the classroom, in the very center of the first row, two graceful figures—one in blue, one in red—sat side by side, drawing countless fiery glances from the boys. Perhaps they did not yet understand the meaning of love, but under the influence of attraction between the sexes and innate instinct, they felt compelled to get closer to those two enchanting presences.
“I don’t know either! But we’ll find out soon enough!”
The girl in blue, named Lisa, shook her head and replied to her friend beside her. Then, her gaze followed the line of sight out the classroom door, where a blurry figure was approaching at a leisurely pace.
“Hm, why does it feel like I’ve seen this person somewhere before?”
“You’ve seen them?”
Lisa looked at her friend in surprise. Seeing the slight furrow on that rosy face, she couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh. The boys nearby were stunned, as if a gentle breeze had brushed past their hearts.
“What are you staring at? Never seen a beauty before?”
Just as a hazy image flashed through her mind and she felt she might recognize that figure, Xilili was disgusted by a drooling boy nearby. Turning to the group of daydreaming boys behind her, she shouted indignantly.
“Hmpf, what are you yelling for? You’re not the one who broke through to level three!”
A voice that blended youthful innocence with a hint of allure suddenly sounded. All eyes turned to a corner at the back of the classroom, where a group of girls sat together. One among them, though young, already possessed a stunning figure and a beauty that rivaled Lisa and Xilili.
“Hmpf, you didn’t break through to level three either. You lot only know how to flirt; you’ll never catch up to Lisa!”
“Oh my, listen to how intimately you say ‘Lisa, Lisa.’ Don’t tell me you only like Lisa and not boys?”
Fimi, lazily stretching in her seat, shot a glance at Lisa, who sat quietly in her place. The sight of her voluptuous figure elicited envious murmurs throughout the room.
“Fimi, you wicked witch! Rotten witch! Freak! What nonsense are you spouting? If you have the guts, let’s settle this outside!”
Enraged by Fimi’s words, Xilili, though knowing no one would believe them, couldn’t hold back her anger. She unleashed all the curses she’d learned in one breath, then grabbed her magic wand, ready for battle.
“Women should be gentle, Xilili. With a mouth like yours, you hardly seem like a proper young lady, let alone a mage!”
“Oh omnipresent fire element, heed my call! Transform into a sharp arrow of flame, pierce the evil before me… Fire Arrow Spell!”
As the incantation rang out, flames began to gather. A rune flickered and vanished, and a fiery arrow took shape in an instant.
“Go!”
With a flick of her wand, the flaming arrow shot forth, trailing a long tail like a tiny shooting star, aimed straight for the corner where Fimi sat.
“Hmpf!”
Bang—
With a cold snort, a fiery figure leapt into the air. A slender red sword traced a graceful arc and struck the arrow dead center. There was a brief pause, then the fire arrow exploded into sparks.
“Oh omnipresent water element, heed my call! Become a gentle stream to nurture all things… Water Soothing Spell!”
“Oh omnipresent earth element, heed my call! Become a cloud of dust to bury all evil… Dust Gathering Spell!”
“Oh omnipresent wind element, heed my call! Become a mild spring breeze to sweep away all gloom… Gentle Breeze Spell!”
...
Incantations and shouts echoed in his ears as Wang Luo, who had been ambling along, appeared at the classroom door in just a few blinks.
Bang, bang—
“Heavens, these wild children! Aren’t they afraid of a catastrophic elemental backlash?”
Wang Luo’s eyes widened in surprise as he watched brilliant magical explosions bloom all over the classroom and streaks of battle aura shimmer.
“Oh, so that’s a magic-absorbing formation! No wonder so many kids can use battle magic together without consequence!”
Spotting the faintly glowing runes on the classroom walls, Wang Luo suddenly understood. He looked curiously at the wild boys and girls, occasionally waving away stray fireballs, water orbs, or wind blades that came his way.
“A magic-absorbing formation’s main function is to drain excess magical energy from its area, keeping the elements balanced. It’s rarely used. I’m surprised you recognized it at a glance!”
A curious voice suddenly sounded by Wang Luo’s ear. Startled, Wang Luo turned smoothly to look.
The newcomer wore a simple robe, his blue hair casually draped over his shoulders. A faint smile played on his lips, and curiosity sparkled in his eyes as he watched the boy struggling to conceal his surprise.
“You must be Wang Luo?”
“Yes.”
“I am Han Rode.”
“Oh?”
Hearing that the young man before him, who appeared around twenty-five or twenty-six, called himself Han Rode, Wang Luo was startled once more. If he remembered correctly, his teacher’s name was Han Rode.
“Good day, Teacher!”
No matter how young this man looked, he could not escape the fact that he was Wang Luo’s teacher. Wang Luo could only greet him respectfully.
“Very well. Come in with me.”
At Han Rode’s words, Wang Luo followed him into the classroom. Instantly, the magic-absorbing formation on the wall flared brightly, drawing in all the magical energy and battle aura. All the children instantly returned to their seats, heads bowed as if nothing had happened.
“Speak.”
Han Rode’s calm, faint smile never wavered, and his tone remained unhurried. Yet, the moment he uttered his own name, the room fell deathly silent.
In the center of the front row and in the far corner of the back row, two little girls in red stood up together, cautiously but at the same time. Then the blue-clad girl in the middle of the front row stood, followed by others, until at last every student in the room was on their feet.
“Speak. What punishment do you think you deserve this time?”
“Teacher, we’ll restore everything we destroyed!”
“Teacher, we’ll go to the upper-year combat zone and challenge someone to a duel!”
“Teacher, we’ll give you a hundred points!”
...
With great interest, Wang Luo watched the scene unfold, listening to the children, heads bowed, recite their own punishments. He began to wonder what kind of methods this young teacher used to tame such a rowdy group so thoroughly.
“All right, we have a new student joining us today, so I’ll let you all off this time.”
Wang Luo was taken aback at Han Rode’s words, as were all the students. They stared at their teacher in disbelief, then turned grateful eyes toward the new student—the one who had just saved them all.
“Little pervert!!!”
The shocked exclamation echoed through the hushed classroom. Once again, everyone was stunned…
