The restorative pill Mo Han concocted truly turned out to be the antidote, which brought a huge sigh of relief to Li An’an. At the same time, she was deeply astonished. Over these past few days, she found herself increasingly unable to understand Mo Han.

After five years of marriage, she had always considered herself the person who knew Mo Han best. Yet in the end, she discovered just how remarkable he truly was. Not only was he skilled in martial arts, but he also possessed medical expertise—this gave her a sense of security she had never felt before.

Still, there were things she struggled to comprehend. Mo Han was only twenty-five; even if he had studied medicine since childhood, at most he would’ve had just over a decade of experience. How could he possibly compare with those medical experts who had devoted decades to the field?

And yet, today Mo Han had accomplished what none of those experts could, and had directly helped her resolve an immense crisis. Now, as long as she finished paying the compensation, the pharmaceutical factory would be hers. Admittedly, she harbored a small spark of anticipation in her heart.

At this moment, when she looked at Mo Han, her eyes held not just surprise, but also a faint, indescribable emotion.

“I learned when I was young, but I only know how to make medicines, not how to diagnose patients,” Mo Han replied with a gentle smile.

It was true—he only knew how to concoct pills, and the pills he made were ones unique to this world, meant for cultivators. As for treating illnesses directly, he simply couldn’t do it—otherwise, he would have cured Xiaoxiao’s cornea long ago. Still, there were certain ailments that could be healed with the pills he created.

“All right, I can only say—you really are a genius,” Li An’an replied with a smile, her words filled with undisguised praise.

After dinner, Li An’an went to the supermarket to buy some things, telling Mo Han to go home first.

Mo Han had just unlocked the door when Xu Fang blocked his way.

“You’re not allowed to come in!”

Before he could step inside, Xu Fang rushed out, her face as fierce as ever. “Get out! Get out of here!”

“It’s all because of you! If we had Qin Haoran’s help, this matter would have been resolved, and An’an wouldn’t be at risk of going to jail. But now, everything’s been ruined by you!”

“You useless good-for-nothing, get out! Don’t ever set foot in my house again! Get out!”

Xu Fang shouted and sobbed as she spoke. The day before, she had gone to the hospital yet again to beg Qin Haoran, even kneeling before his hospital bed for an entire hour.

Not only did she endure endless humiliation, but in the end, Qin Haoran’s bodyguards threw her out.

The thought of the serious consequences that might follow from this incident filled her with terror. Whether her daughter or her husband ended up in prison, she had no idea how she would cope.

Mo Han didn’t argue—he had no desire to bandy words with Xu Fang. “I’ll just check on Xiaoxiao, then I’ll leave,” he said.

He squeezed into the house and went to the bedroom, where Xiaoxiao was sleeping. He bent down, kissed his daughter’s forehead, and then quietly left.

He, too, had his pride. Being told to get out again and again by Xu Fang was becoming too much to bear.

After Mo Han left, Li An’an returned home. Not seeing Mo Han, she asked, “Mom, where’s Mo Han?”

“Don’t mention that useless man—I kicked him out!” Xu Fang replied with obvious annoyance.

“Mom, what are you doing? He’s my husband. Besides, he just helped me resolve everything today. Why did you drive him out?” Li An’an was angry now, her face darkening.

“What did you say?” Xu Fang was startled, staring at Li An’an in disbelief.

“I said Mo Han already took care of the pharmaceutical accident. We don’t need to beg Qin Haoran anymore,” Li An’an repeated.

“He… he really resolved it?” Xu Fang still found it hard to believe.

Such a huge problem—how could someone as worthless as Mo Han possibly fix it?

“Why couldn’t he?” Li An’an was furious. She raised her voice: “Mo Han knows traditional medicine—he made the antidote and settled the whole affair! And Mo Han is skilled in martial arts too. The Defense Department even invited him to be an instructor—what happened with the Tan family was resolved with their help! Do you still think he’s incapable? Do you still think he’s just freeloading off me? Mom, let me make this clear one last time: Mo Han is not useless—he’s my husband. If you keep treating him like this, I’ll move out and live with him. I won’t stay here with you!”

It was obvious how angry Li An’an was; she had never lost her temper with her family like this before.

Xu Fang was completely stunned.

“Big Sis, was it really Brother-in-law who sorted out the factory problem?” Li Xiaoxiao was still doubtful.

“Do you think I’m lying? Go to the factory tomorrow and see for yourself!” Li An’an retorted coldly.

“Ah…” Li Xiaoxiao was shocked. Had Mo Han really made the antidote? Martial arts, medicine, the Defense Department inviting him to teach—was this really her meek and quiet brother-in-law?

A glimmer of light flashed in Li Xiaoxiao’s eyes, as if she had discovered a whole new world.

“An’an, are you sure you’re not lying to me?” Xu Fang still couldn’t quite believe it.

“Why would I bother making things up? If you don’t believe me, go to the factory or the hospital and ask!” Li An’an replied in a disgruntled tone.

Hearing this, Xu Fang stopped doubting. Her expression turned awkward, and she said sheepishly, “Well, An’an, I was wrong just now. Call him for me, and I’ll apologize.”

Now that the matter was resolved, it meant the pharmaceutical factory would belong to their family. So, she figured apologizing to Mo Han was only right. If everything her daughter said was true, she had indeed misjudged Mo Han. With such an outstanding son-in-law, there was no harm in apologizing.

Xu Fang had always been a practical woman—if you were outstanding, she’d praise you; if you were useless, she’d trample you.

“There’s no need, as long as you don’t belittle him again,” Li An’an replied indifferently.

“With such an excellent son-in-law, why would I pick on him? It was all a misunderstanding before.” Xu Fang smiled awkwardly.

Seeing this, Li An’an didn’t want to argue any further. There was, however, something she still needed to bring up.

“Dad, why did you agree to Uncle’s plan and sign the papers?” She didn’t want to blame her father, but she needed to understand exactly what had happened. Moreover, she wanted this to serve as a lesson so he wouldn’t be deceived again in the future.

Li Xiande’s face fell, not at his daughter, but because the incident had truly embarrassed him. He hung his head in silence.

“If you don’t want to talk about it, fine. But I hope in the future, you’ll discuss things with me before making decisions—especially now that the factory is ours. Uncle and Grandpa will not easily give up. Don’t let them trick you again,” Li An’an reminded him.

“How could I? I’m not stupid. I won’t fall into the same trap twice,” Li Xiande replied, somewhat defensive.

“Good,” Li An’an replied, then went to the bedroom to check on her daughter.
