Chapter 89: Savage
“Don’t trouble yourself,” Wang Gao said as he rose at once. “The road I walk has always been my own. I don’t like following behind others and licking up their leftovers.”
His expression darkened. Having said that, he turned and strode out.
Xu Biao and the others were still seated, but their faces were just as ugly.
Everyone wanted independence; no one wished to be controlled by another. But the people from Yuzhou were stronger than them in every respect. If they refused to submit, the consequences would surely be troublesome.
“No one has ever dared defy the will of the Zuo family!”
Zuo Lengqi gave a cold snort. Then, suddenly, he moved.
Wang Gao, who had just reached the private room door, felt a jolt of alarm, but before he could react, Zuo Lengqi had already seized him by the throat.
Without giving Wang Gao the slightest chance, Zuo Lengqi pressed down on the crown of his head with his right hand and twisted hard.
A crack rang out.
Wang Gao’s head was forcibly twisted ninety degrees.
Seeing the terror in Wang Gao’s bulging eyes, Xu Biao and the others all shuddered. Their whole bodies trembled.
Too vicious.
Too domineering.
All because Wang Gao did not wish to depend on the Zuo family, they took his life on the spot.
This was even more ruthless than the Fifth Master back in the day.
“Wang Gao was shortsighted. And what about the rest of you?”
Zuo Lengqi released his hand and looked at Xu Biao and the others. There was no emotion in his eyes at all, as though he had merely pinched an ant to death.
At that moment, Wang Gao’s corpse thudded to the ground, his eyes still wide in death.
“My father once said that in this world, if someone is not a friend, then they are an enemy,” Zuo Wenshan said with great satisfaction at Xu Biao’s reaction, smiling. “And our Zuo family has only one outcome for our enemies: death.”
His words were full of menace.
Xu Biao and the others immediately changed color.
This was naked intimidation.
If they did not submit, their end would surely be miserable—certainly the same as Wang Gao’s, dying with eyes unclosed.
Xu Biao could almost be certain that if he did not agree today, there would be only one outcome.
Death.
In times of upheaval, those who could command wind and rain in Qian City were, before the true power of a Yuzhou family like the Zuos, nothing more than small fish and shrimp.
“I, Xu, am willing to submit to the Zuo family and stand with the Zuo family against Mo Han!”
Xu Biao drew a deep breath and finally made his decision.
Since he could not leave this world behind, he could only keep walking forward.
Though he could not see hope on this road,
it was still better than dying at once.
The other lords’ faces changed drastically.
But since even Xu Biao had submitted to the Zuo family, they could no longer stir up any storm.
In the end, they too could only successively declare their loyalty to the Zuo family.
“Good. You are all indeed worthy talents and very懂the times.” Zuo Wenshan smiled and sat down in Wang Gao’s former seat.
“Second Young Master, shall I have someone deal with Wang Gao’s body first?” Xu Biao asked respectfully.
“No hurry. Let us first drink three cups to celebrate our happy cooperation,” Zuo Wenshan said carelessly.
Xu Biao and the others’ expressions changed slightly. However one looked at it, Wang Gao had been their ally just moments ago, yet Zuo Wenshan would not even grant them the request to collect his body.
“Come, let me toast everyone first. May our cooperation be pleasant.” Zuo Wenshan poured himself a cup of wine and raised it toward Xu Biao and the others.
Their faces were rather unpleasant, but after a sigh, they still lifted their cups and clinked them with his.
After three cups went down, Zuo Wenshan rose and said with confidence, “Rest assured, tomorrow that Mo Han will have no time to come trouble you. Tomorrow, our Zuo family will bring down their pharmaceutical factory and take that dog Mo Han’s head.”
With that, he turned and walked out.
“Are they moving tomorrow?” Xu Biao and the others’ eyes lit up. From the sound of it, the Zuo family had already laid out a complete plan to deal with the pharmaceutical factory and Mo Han.
“Old Xu, are we moving tomorrow?” one of the lords asked Xu Biao.
He did not understand Zuo Wenshan’s meaning and did not know whether those words were meant to test them, or merely to show off before them and let them know how formidable the Zuo family was.
Xu Biao’s gaze also flickered uncertainly.
“Let’s hold position for now,” Xu Biao said after thinking it over.
He felt Zuo Wenshan’s words had been more about posturing than anything else.
After all, against a powerhouse like Mo Han, the few of them were not even fit to serve as cannon fodder.
Only a strongman like Zuo Lengqi was qualified to exchange blows with Mo Han.
...
“Brother Han, people from the Zuo family of Yuzhou have arrived. Xu Biao and the major underground factions have all thrown in with the Zuo family. I hear the Zuo family intends to establish another Hall of Worthies in Qian City.”
In the training room, Li Qilang reported to Mo Han.
“The Zuo family of Yuzhou?”
Mo Han gave a cold smile. He suddenly thought of the young man he had encountered a few days ago outside the Qian City Grand Hotel, when he went to attend the investment promotion banquet.
“Yes. The Zuo family of Yuzhou is extremely powerful. Even here in Qian City, Chen Jianpeng’s family would not dare provoke them,” Li Qilang said.
“Interesting.”
Mo Han’s eyes brightened.
He had already made it known: there would be no underground world left in Qian City.
Everyone thought he was merely putting on airs and took his words as nothing.
Very well. Since the Zuo family wanted to court death, he would kill their chicken to warn the monkeys.
“Then do we still move against Xu Biao and the others?” Li Qilang asked.
“Of course we do. Why wouldn’t we?” Mo Han said with a smile. “Bring them all to the construction site and have them work as laborers.”
Qian City still had four factions. Even if each one had only around a hundred men, that would still be four hundred free laborers.
“All right, then we’ll make our move tomorrow,” Li Qilang said.
Mo Han nodded, glanced at the time, and rose to head for the office area on the third floor.
In the office, Li Anan was busy with something in front of the computer.
“Where’s Dad? Out seeing clients again?” Mo Han asked casually, not seeing Li Xiande.
“Mhm.” Li Anan nodded and continued tapping at the keyboard.
“Anan, it’s time to get off work. Everything’s settled now. You don’t have to push yourself so hard.” Seeing how hard she was working, Mo Han felt a little pained.
“Just a moment more,” Li Anan said.
She typed for a while longer before finally finishing.
Looking at the time, Li Anan realized it was already half past six. She shut down the computer, gathered her papers, and then walked out with Mo Han.
Today Mo Han had not brought the little girl with him. In half a month, her cornea would need to be restored again, so it was better for her to stay home.
Besides, with Ding Si protecting her, no one in Qian City could really lay a hand on her.
“Let’s go to the mall and take a look,” Li Anan said once they got into the car.
“Mm.” Mo Han nodded. He did not ask what she wanted to buy, but started the A8, turned the car around, and prepared to head out.
Suddenly, Mo Han stopped the car.
He had actually sensed several martial artists lying in wait outside the company.
“Assassins? Assassins coming for me?”
The killing intent radiating from those people was somewhat icy.
Moreover, he had offended quite a few people lately. It would be perfectly normal for someone to hire assassins to kill him.
“Anan, stay here for a moment. I’m going out for a walk.”
Mo Han unfastened his seat belt, patted Li Anan’s shoulder beside him, and opened the car door to step outside.
Before Li Anan could even ask what had happened, Mo Han’s figure was already gone.
