Chapter 35: Arrogance

Li Anan frowned, her expression darkening; she hadn't expected Wu Tao to catch her off guard like this.

But she quickly regained her composure and spoke coldly, "Manager Wu, you and the others have already been dismissed. You no longer have the right to sit here."

"What?" Wu Tao was stunned, looking at Li Anan in disbelief.

He hadn't anticipated that Li Anan would have such resolve, daring to fire them all at once.

After all, they were all senior executives of the company. He was the general manager, along with the sales director, the planning director, the security manager, and others.

These people were the backbone of the company; without them, the pharmaceutical factory would hardly be able to return to normal operations in the short term.

He couldn't imagine who had given Li Anan the courage to dismiss so many executives in one stroke.

The other managers also stared at Li Anan in disbelief.

"I said you have all been dismissed," Li Anan reiterated.

"Why? President Li, just because we were a few minutes late, you're firing us? Isn't that a bit excessive?" Wu Tao said confidently. "Yes, you are the boss, but if you treat your management staff like this, who will dare to work for you in the future?"

"President Li, I think you owe us all a reasonable explanation. Otherwise, dismissing us without cause violates the labor contract, and you will have to compensate us for all our losses," the sales director said arrogantly, looking at Li Anan.

The others joined in, demanding a reasonable explanation from her.

Otherwise, they would take legal action against Li Anan.

Even those managers who hadn't been late were now dissatisfied with her decision.

"Right, even if you're President Li's husband, speaking such nonsense—do you really think we're clay idols?" the manager of the compounding department glared angrily at Mo Han, as if he were truly being slandered.

"Slandering?" Mo Han mocked. "Because the formula for the wild herb was changed, the pills became poison. Even if I have no evidence now, once I call the police, you, as the compounding manager, won't escape responsibility.

The reason I haven't reported it yet, and am letting you leave on your own, is out of respect for your long service to the company, giving you a chance. But once the police get involved, they'll strip you bare."

The compounding manager's face changed; Mo Han's words struck right at the heart of his fears. Whether or not he was one of the masterminds, as the manager of the compounding department, he could never escape blame for such a disaster.

Mo Han's words silenced him; he lowered his head, no longer daring to respond.

"Fool, why don't you call the police then?" Wu Tao said, full of confidence. "If you don't, I'll sue you for slander and defamation."

He had Qin Haoran backing him. Even if Mo Han did call the police, Wu Tao believed Qin Haoran would help clear their names, and it would give them an opportunity to counter-sue Mo Han and Li Anan for slander.

Mo Han sneered coldly. "Wu Tao, do you really think that, by siding with Qin Haoran, he'll always support you?"

All we need to do is post online that he's the true mastermind behind this, without even bothering about evidence, and the Qin family will face enormous negative publicity. Tell me, will Qin Haoran be busy clearing his own name or standing up for you then?"

Wu Tao's face changed dramatically. He knew better than anyone that if the Qin family suffered negative consequences, Qin Haoran would not only abandon him, but might even destroy him.

He glared at Mo Han, a flash of fierceness in his eyes.
