Chapter 102: The Rain Is So Heavy
“Fifth Master, I heard that Mo Han offended the Zuo family, and tonight they’re coming for revenge.”
In a room at the pharmaceutical factory, Fifth Master lay in bed while Ba Dao sat beside him.
On that day, the two of them had gone to war with Mo Han, and Mo Han had left them both badly wounded.
But Fifth Master had been hurt far more severely. Even though a famous physician had been invited personally to treat them, he still could not get out of bed.
At the time, his internal organs had nearly been shattered by Mo Han.
Ba Dao’s injuries were lighter only because Mo Han had seen that he had decent foundations and had shown mercy.
Otherwise, he would probably be in much the same state as Fifth Master now, lying in bed and recovering slowly.
“The Zuo family of Jade City?” Fifth Master raised his brows and asked.
“Mm.”
Ba Dao nodded and said, “I heard the Zuo family sent Zuo Lengqi and Zuo Wenshan to take over the underworld of Qian City. They wanted to use the pharmaceutical factory as a stepping-stone for their rise, but in the end both Zuo Lengqi and Zuo Wenshan were beaten to death by Mo Han. Not only that, Mo Han even had their corpses sent back to the Zuo family, humiliating them once again.
“I’ve heard Zuo Lengdan and his two other brothers flew into a rage, swearing to wash the pharmaceutical factory and the underworld of Qian City in blood.”
A faint light appeared in Fifth Master’s eyes, and his spirits lifted even more.
“This is interesting. Who do you think will win?” he asked with a smile.
Ba Dao shook his head. “I don’t know, because I have no idea how strong the Zuo family really is.
“But I’m more optimistic about Mo Han.”
After all, as someone who had been defeated by Mo Han with a single punch, Ba Dao still remembered Mo Han’s strength vividly.
In his view, a powerhouse like Mo Han should never have come to a small place like Qian City.
Since ancient times, the truly strong had always disdained remaining in barren lands.
“It seems you’ve broadened your horizons a little lately.”
Fifth Master smiled and analyzed, “You haven’t fought the Zuo brothers, but you should be able to guess that their strengths are probably not far apart.
“Since Zuo Lengqi was killed by Mo Han, Zuo Lengdan and the others won’t be much stronger.
“Mo Han comes from the Northern Mo family. The blood of battle flows in his veins; he is no fool.
“Once he learned who they were, he still dared to kill them outright and send their bodies back. That alone shows he does not fear the Zuo family at all.
“In fact, I have a bold thought. Mo Han may have deliberately provoked the Zuo family, just to make them come and hand over their heads.”
“No way. What would be the point of that?” Ba Dao asked in confusion.
Fifth Master thought for a moment and said, “Most likely, he wants to use the Zuo family’s heads to warn anyone else who is still thinking of laying hands on Qian City’s underground world.”
Ba Dao nodded, looking as though he had just understood.
He still remembered that when he and Fifth Master had been defeated, Mo Han had declared with overwhelming arrogance: after today, there would be no underground world left in Qian City.
But the cake that was Qian City’s underground world was not small. Plenty of forces had their eyes on it, both throughout the southwest and even from certain groups in the north.
“Do you think the Northern Mo family will make a move?” Ba Dao suddenly asked.
“They certainly will. But the northern situation is unstable right now. Maybe the Mo family still does not know what happened in Qian City. Or maybe they already know, but have not yet found the time to deal with Mo Han.” Fifth Master nodded.
Both he and Ba Dao worked for the Mo family and had earned the family a great deal of dirty money over the years.
Now that both he and Ba Dao had fallen into Mo Han’s hands, the Mo family would certainly not just sit by and ignore it.
After all, with an annual income of five billion, very few powers would willingly give up such a huge prize.
“I’m really looking forward to the Mo family learning about it soon and then coming all the way to Qian City,” Ba Dao said with a laugh.
He suddenly found himself anticipating the sight of Mo Han and the Mo family tearing each other apart.
Fifth Master’s eyes also brightened, though he said nothing.
But in his heart, he too looked forward to that day.
He looked forward to Mo Han and the Mo family inflicting disastrous losses on each other.
He had fallen to this state today entirely because of Mo Han.
Though his grand ambitions were long gone, he still could not reconcile himself to it.
The Gathering Worthies Hall, which he had built with his own hands, had originally been expected, according to his careful plans, to have a great chance of breaking away from the Mo family.
He had never expected that Mo Han, this unforeseen variable, would ruin everything.
Not only that, he had been driven completely to ruin.
How could there be no hatred in his heart?
…
When the hour arrived, the funeral procession set out from the Zuo family in Jade City with great fanfare, heading straight for Qian City.
More than twenty vehicles were draped in white cloth. The atmosphere was so grim it seemed to crush the breath from one’s chest.
Because of their confidence.
Because of the anger that had been suppressed to the very limit in their hearts.
Zuo Lengdan had not chosen assassination as his means of revenge.
He came openly and aboveboard, even releasing the news in advance.
He was coming to Qian City for revenge.
He would make the entire Lin Pharmaceutical Factory and all of Qian City’s underground world be buried with his son.
Mo Han had dared to kill his son, so he would pay a tragic price for it.
Beyond paying with blood for blood, everyone in the pharmaceutical factory and the underground world would suffer as well.
That was the Zuo family.
The fearless Zuo family!
At once, the big shots of the underworld also grew a little tense.
They feared that the Zuo family would go mad with slaughter and hurt innocent people.
Even if that happened, the Zuo family would certainly be finished, but Li Shujie would also be furious.
“Worry about Qilang first,” Li’s mother said anxiously. “I heard that he went with Mister Mo to face the Zuo family too.”
As someone within the system, she knew a fair bit about the Zuo family of Jade City.
This time the Zuo family had come for revenge, and they were certainly going to kill.
Her son, Li Qilang, would be joining the fight. Would he be injured? Would he be in danger?
She had no confidence at all.
She had called Li Qilang several times, but his phone was switched off every time.
How could she not be worried?
“Don’t worry. He should be fine. You have to trust Mister Mo,” Li Shujie said, taking his wife’s hand to comfort her.
Of course he was worried too.
But since he could not reach Li Qilang, there was nothing he could do.
Even if he asked the army for help now, it would already be too late.
So all he could do was pray in his heart that this time, Mo Han would not disappoint him either.
“Alas.” Li’s mother sighed. At this point, she really could only place her hopes on Mo Han.
She was deeply concerned for her son’s safety.
But just two days ago, Mo Han had given the enormous honor of “National Hero” to their son.
He had made their son the pride of the Li family.
Though the Zuo family was mainly coming for the pharmaceutical factory, they also had their eyes on the underground world of Qian City.
As the National Hero, her son did indeed have a responsibility to fight for the city’s peace.
The moment he accepted that plaque bearing the title bestowed upon him by the public, he was no longer just one man.
He also carried a mission on his shoulders.
Boom!
Suddenly, a brilliant flash of lightning cut across the night sky, followed by a thunderclap that shook the ears and made the heart tremble.
“The rain tonight is really heavy!”
Li Shujie looked out the window through the curtain of rain.
For some reason, scenes of a ferocious, earthshaking slaughter seemed to appear in his mind.
It was as though even the rain had turned red.
