Chapter 121: Willing to Fall from Heaven for You 6
"Gousheng, are you there?" Le Yixian called out in her mind, but there was no response.
Le Yixian’s brow furrowed slightly. Since she had arrived in this world, Gousheng had not been following her, and she had no way to exit this virtual reality. She recalled what Li Yue had said previously—that this treatment plan was still in the experimental stage and carried significant risks. It seemed the medical equipment was malfunctioning.
"Xiao Xian?" Le Yixian snapped out of her thoughts as she met An Mila’s worried gaze. "What's wrong?"
"I... I just saw a large rat crawl out from the window," Le Yixian made up an excuse.
"What?" An Mila’s entire body stiffened. She had an extreme phobia of rats. When she was in the orphanage as a child, a mischievous boy had grabbed a rat and thrown it at her, leaving her screaming in terror. To this day, she still suffered from severe trauma regarding the creatures. "Is it still there?" she asked with difficulty, her body rigid with fear.
Le Yixian pretended to peek toward the window for a moment, then shook her head. "It ran away!"
"Phew," An Mila let out a sigh of relief. "I'm going to buy some rat traps after school today!" She looked as fierce and determined as a warrior preparing for battle.
Before the warrior could prepare, a large hand descended from above and pressed down on her slightly raised head.
"Dummy, what are you doing here?" Lin Xuan asked, one hand in his pocket while the other rubbed the top of An Mila’s head with force.
"Damn it, Lin Xuan, you idiot! I told you not to call me a dummy!" An Mila jumped up, struggling to break free from his hand, looking furious.
"What else would you call someone who can't even distinguish between past tense and past perfect verbs?" Lin Xuan retracted his hand and raised an eyebrow.
An Mila retorted, "Shut up. You're a moron whose total test scores are lower than mine; you have no right to lecture me. Go memorize your classical literature."
As the two began their daily bickering, Le Yixian’s mouth twitched. She found their conversation incredibly childish. She glanced at the overbearing Lin Xuan and then looked away; this person was not her "Little Cutie." She could feel it.
During lunch, the cafeteria was packed. An Mila and Le Yixian carried their trays, searching for seats among the sea of students.
"Xiao Xian, over there!" An Mila spotted a corner, her eyes lighting up. She hurried over and plopped down into a seat. However, someone was just as fast, and the seat opposite her was already taken.
An Mila looked up to see a face she found highly annoying. "Lin Xuan, I sat in this seat first."
"You sat in the seat underneath your butt first," Lin Xuan replied, using his spoon to poke at the white rice on his tray without even lifting his eyelids.
"You..." An Mila rolled her eyes at him. His logic was sound, and she couldn't refute it.
"It's fine, Mila, you sit there. I'll sit next to you," Le Yixian comforted her. She glanced at Lin Xuan, who had already buried his face in his meal, and her eyes lingered on his tray before shifting away. *Hmm, broccoli. My 'Little Cutie' hates that vegetable the most.*
She had a suspicion about his identity; this guy was likely from Hell, with a ninety percent chance of being the legendary Lucifer. After all, in this type of youth literature, apart from the male lead and the supporting male characters, no other boys would want to get close to a heroine who was plain-looking and bordering on delicate. She sent a message to Raphael, telling him to keep a closer watch.
"You've been staring over there. Do you want to sit there?" A calm, monotonous voice rang out.
Le Yixian looked up and met a perfectly ordinary, unremarkable face. "What a coincidence, are you here to eat too?"
"You're not going to eat during lunch time?" Huang Ze asked, looking down as he picked at some meatballs, ignoring her further.
"..." Le Yixian felt that this boy's words were even more irritating. Her gaze inadvertently swept over his tray, and she was surprised to see fried chicken wings. This caught her off guard, as her impression of Huang Ze was that of a total bookworm—someone whose world consisted only of studying and grades.
"Do you think I shouldn't be eating fried chicken wings?" Huang Ze noticed her gaze and asked expressionlessly.
"No, go ahead, eat. Fried chicken wings are delicious," Le Yixian said quickly. *My 'Little Cutie' also quite likes fried chicken wings.*
"By the way, there's an advanced problem in the math teacher's homework. Do you know how to solve it?" the boy across from her suddenly asked.
Le Yixian: "Huh?"
"You know how to solve it, right?" he asked again.
"I do. For that problem, you just need to draw an auxiliary line in the middle, and then calculate from point D and point F."
"Oh, so that's how it's done," Huang Ze pondered for a moment, a look of sudden realization dawning on him. A sharp light glinted behind his thick lenses. "I never thought of that method!"
"Have you done the new mock exams from Huanggang this year? Have you studied the last big problem in the second volume?" The intensity in his eyes pierced through his glasses, which were thicker than wine bottle bottoms, and fell directly onto Le Yixian’s face.
Le Yixian: "Huanggang papers? No, I haven't done them."
"Then I suggest you do them. The questions released this year are incredibly good. They offer targeted practice, the concepts are novel, and the problem-solving methods are diverse..." Huang Ze spoke incessantly, possessing the infinite enthusiasm of a multi-level marketing agent pitching a product, as he desperately tried to sell the Huanggang papers to Le Yixian.
Seeing Huang Ze’s obsessed expression, Le Yixian took advantage of a moment when he wasn't looking to grab her tray and make a run for it. *Oh my god, this guy is toxic.*
That afternoon, after Le Yixian finished her nap at her desk, she found herself met with a pair of resentful eyes. An Mila poked her and asked curiously, "Did you offend the 'Study God' again?" ('Study God' was the nickname students gave Huang Ze for his attitude of only reading holy books and ignoring the world outside his window.)
"Not really," Le Yixian thought to herself, *I should probably score lower on the next exam so this kid stops staring at me.*
What worried Le Yixian more was that she had searched this world for a long time and had yet to find any sign of Ke Yuandao. Then, before she could find him, another accident occurred.
That day, during P.E. class, Le Yixian was standing on the sidelines, slacking off, when a basketball fell from the sky and slammed right into her head. Amidst the gasps of her classmates, Lin Xuan ran over and asked, "Hey, are you okay? Can't you dodge..."
Le Yixian clutched her head, retorting, "How are you supposed to dodge a disaster falling from the sky?"
Hearing no retort, Le Yixian looked up and met Lin Xuan’s gaze. He was staring straight at her face. "Class rep, you're actually quite pretty!"
Le Yixian touched her face and realized her glasses had been knocked off. She covered her face with one hand and asked, "Where are my glasses?"
"Here," a calm voice said. A pair of black-framed glasses was handed to her. Le Yixian took them and put them on.
