Chapter 123: Willing to Fall from Grace for You, Part 8
"Why??" Le Yixian repeated its words. "There is no Ke Yuandao in this world; staying here is meaningless."
Gousheng, stunned by the statement that there was no Ke Yuandao in this world, asked, "What? The Master is not in this world?"
"Yes, I've been looking for nearly three months," Le Yixian nodded. "So, I’ve decided to die and switch to another world to continue the search. I can't get out of here anyway."
In past worlds, Ke Yuandao would have made his presence known long ago. Even if he were hiding, he would have an undeniable presence that Le Yixian would be able to sense. But in this world, the person simply did not exist.
"Mistress, you cannot die," Gousheng urged her, trying to stop her.
"Why were you absent for so long before?" Le Yixian asked, suddenly remembering.
"The treatment system was attacked by an unknown hacker. I have expelled them, but they destroyed the exit to the consciousness world, and I am currently repairing it. You must stay in this world for now, Mistress. Once I finish the repairs, we can exit," Gousheng explained. "If you commit suicide now, you might end up just like the Master—unable to wake up, remaining in a coma as a vegetable."
"An unknown hacker? Why would they attack this system?" Logically, this consciousness-based therapy was a method that benefited both the country and the people.
Gousheng whispered, "They probably want to kill you and the Master to inherit your estate!"
"Our wills have already been drawn up. If we both die, it goes to the children in the mountain regions," Le Yixian said calmly.
She couldn't die now, which left Le Yixian feeling somewhat distressed. In this world, her setting was still a Seraphim; barring any accidents, she could live for tens of thousands of years. Just thinking about that made her feel even worse. "Gousheng, hurry up and fix the exit. We need to go to another world to find your Master."
"Understood! Rest assured, Mistress, leave it to me. Please get to the shore first; I’m going to fix the exit now," Gousheng replied cheerfully.
Le Yixian stood in the water for a while. Hearing no further sound from Gousheng, she was just about to head toward the shore when she heard splashing behind her, as if someone were walking through the water.
Before she could see clearly, someone lunged at her, shouting, "Xiao Xian, don't do anything rash!!"
Le Yixian stumbled from the sudden force. Her foot slipped, and with a splash, she fell into the water, dragging An Mila, who was clinging to her, down as well.
"Cough, Xiao Xian, you... stay calm, don't be impulsive... glug..." An Mila choked on some river water, her arms wrapped tightly around Le Yixian's waist.
As they fell, Le Yixian tried to struggle to her feet, but the girl clung to her like an octopus, making it impossible to move her limbs.
"Let go," Le Yixian pushed at her, swallowing more water herself as she shouted.
"Xiao Xian, impulse is the devil! You only live once, let's talk about whatever is wrong properly!!!"
An Mila shouted back, her claws still not letting go. As she held on tighter, Le Yixian found it increasingly difficult to keep her footing.
The two struggled in the water, sinking deeper and deeper.
Having nearly choked on a stomach full of water, Le Yixian’s consciousness began to blur, and she cursed internally: Damn it.
*Splash!* A sound of someone hitting the water reached her, and Le Yixian saw a figure swimming rapidly toward them from the distance.
"Ke Yuandao," Le Yixian murmured, closing her eyes.
...
"Waaaah~~~"
Le Yixian was woken up by a buzzing, crying sound. She struggled to open her eyes and was met with An Mila’s face, covered in snot and tears. She moved her lips, "So... noisy!"
As she spoke, she realized her voice was extremely hoarse.
Hearing her, the crying paused. An Mila looked into her eyes and then threw herself onto her again, sobbing loudly: "Waaah, Xiao Xian, if you have something you can't get over, tell me! I'll be your supportive little comforter. Why did you have to commit suicide!!! I heard that people who commit suicide can't go to heaven, don't be a fool!!"
Le Yixian felt she was being crushed and couldn't breathe. Just as she felt she was about to pass out, An Mila finally got off her.
"Hey, idiot, if you keep pressing on the class representative, she's really going to die," Lin Xuan said, holding An Mila by the collar with a cool expression.
Le Yixian gave him a look of gratitude. She coughed a few times, and another hand reached out to help her up. The voice was calm and detached: "Are you alright?"
"Cough, not at all," Le Yixian clutched her chest and coughed up some river water, only then noticing it was Huang Ze. Huang Ze was also soaked; clearly, besides Lin Xuan, he was the one who had jumped in to save her.
An Mila was still sobbing nearby, which made Le Yixian feel irritable. After catching her breath, she said to An Mila, "Mila, I suggest you learn how to perform a water rescue before you try to save someone again."
Otherwise, she wouldn't save them; she’d kill them.
"Waaah, Xiao Xian, why did you commit suicide?" An Mila wiped the tears from her face.
"I wasn't trying to commit suicide. I was trying to get to the shore, but you jumped at me," Le Yixian said, recounting the events with a blank expression.
An Mila was embarrassed, her face turning slightly red. "I'll learn the proper rescue methods next time."
"But I saw you standing in the water for a long time, and you didn't answer when I called you. You scared me to death." An Mila sniffled and sneezed. Her eyes were red, her hair was a mess, her clothes were soaked, and she was dripping water everywhere.
"Sorry, I was thinking about something," Le Yixian apologized, then added, "Next time you see someone trying to commit suicide, really, don't jump in. Just call for help."
If Lin Xuan and Huang Ze hadn't been passing by, both of them would have been done for.
However, if the heroine dies, will her soul turn into an angel?
"Let's go change clothes first. It won't be good if you catch a cold or fever. My house is nearby," Lin Xuan said.
Le Yixian nodded and stood up, while An Mila sneezed several more times.
"Class representative, can you see the path clearly?? Do you want me to hold your hand?" Lin Xuan asked, suddenly leaning in close.
Le Yixian: "..."
"Come on, let me hold your hand," Lin Xuan said with a smile, extending his hand.
She reached up to touch her face, finding it empty, and only then realized her glasses must have fallen off during the struggle in the water.
"I can see. My prescription isn't strong," Le Yixian ignored his hand and shook her hair. She instinctively looked toward Huang Ze, noticing his glasses were still firmly on the bridge of his nose.
As she looked at him, he was also looking at her. After a moment, she heard him say, "You should go get your glasses replaced soon. Even if the prescription isn't strong, you still need to wear them."
Before Le Yixian could speak, Huang Ze added, "Do you want to go get them replaced? There's an optician shop called 'Thousand Mile Eye' having a promotion where members get 20% off. I have a membership card!"
