Chapter 125: Falling from Heaven for You 10
"Don't worry, she just fainted," Gabriel said, glancing at the girl beside her to indicate that nothing was wrong.
Gabriel looked at the person who was still patting her friend's face, a hint of deep thought flashing in her eyes. The Oblivion Spell didn't work?
What was going on? Standing behind them, Gabriel quietly cast the spell several more times, but to her surprise, the girl before her remained full of energy, showing no signs of drowsiness.
She bent down, hoisted the unconscious girl onto her shoulder like a sack of potatoes, and said, "Staying here is not an option. Let's go."
Amira thought this made sense, so she picked up the grimy gift box and followed Gabriel.
Neither of them noticed that the moment the person being carried was hoisted onto Gabriel's shoulder, she clenched her fist tightly before immediately relaxing it again.
When Le Yixian opened her eyes once more, she found herself lying on a sofa. Sensing she had regained consciousness, Amira, who had been by her side the whole time, leaned in. "Xiaoxian, you're finally awake?"
"I... what happened to me?" Le Yixian's eyes were filled with confusion. Calmly, she reached out and pressed on her stomach; Gabriel's shoulder was truly hard.
"You... you suddenly fainted. You scared me to death! Luckily, Senior Baili happened to pass by and helped out," Amira said, her brain racing to come up with an excuse.
Le Yixian found it amusing internally, but her expression remained puzzled. "I seem to remember something falling from the sky..."
"Ah, a bird fell from the sky! Don't you remember? A white pigeon, haha!!" Amira quickly cut her off, fearing her friend might recall something. She knew that the more one knew, the more dangerous it was; she couldn't let her friend be put in danger.
Seeing her nervous demeanor, Le Yixian didn't tease her any further and nodded. "Oh, so it was a pigeon."
Gabriel's residence was a villa, decorated with such opulence that it radiated a "I am incredibly wealthy" vibe.
After showering, Gabriel came downstairs. Seeing that the other girl had woken up, she greeted them, "You're awake. How do you feel?"
"Thank you, Senior. Mira already told me everything," Le Yixian said.
Gabriel was wearing a white nightgown, her long, damp hair draped behind her. As she walked, water droplets fell onto the plush carpet. She wiped her hair with a towel, sat on a single-seat sofa, and asked languidly, "Oh, and what did she tell you?"
"That I was hit by a falling pigeon and fainted, and that you happened to pass by and brought us back to your place," Le Yixian replied.
Gabriel nodded, satisfied. "Yes, I only brought you two back because I felt sorry for you. It’s very late now, so you should stay the night."
"My butler will arrange your room," Gabriel said, ignoring them afterward and turning to leave.
She needed to ask Raphael why the Oblivion Spell had failed. She would have to erase Amira’s memories of tonight before she left tomorrow. As for the other girl who had fainted from the start, she didn't intend to bother with her.
"Ladies, please this way!" As Amira watched Gabriel leave, she was about to speak when a sudden voice startled her.
She turned and froze.
A blonde young man in a white tailcoat was standing by the sofa. He bowed slightly to the two of them. "I have prepared your room. Please, follow me."
Amira and Le Yixian followed the young man in silence.
The young man led the way to a room on the second floor. He opened the door and said respectfully, "There is a bathroom and a washroom inside. I have prepared fresh clothes for you both. If you need anything else, please press the telephone inside the cabinet, and we will come to serve you."
Until the young man left, Amira remained in a daze. She grabbed her friend's hand and said, "I’d always heard that Senior Baili’s family was incredibly rich, but I never believed it. Now, I do."
It was easy to hire a butler, but it was not easy to hire one who looked that handsome.
"Mm, very rich," Le Yixian nodded. According to the original owner's memories, Gabriel was the wealthiest among the Seraphim; she had even brought the administrator of her palace down to the mortal realm.
As for the original owner, she was rumored to be very poor. Even though she was a Chief Seraph, her net worth was in the negatives.
Amira had never seen such a beautiful room. She looked around cautiously and placed the dirty gift box in a corner, as if afraid of soiling the room.
After she took a small lap around the room, Le Yixian found her behavior amusing. "The door is closed. Who’s going to see what you’re doing? You don't have to be like this."
Amira paused, thinking it made sense, and exclaimed, "Xiaoxian, this place is so beautiful! I've never seen such a beautiful room."
The room was large, featuring a bed in the center that could sleep three or four people, a silver vanity, and a sofa set by the window. On the coffee table, someone had thoughtfully prepared hot tea and delicate pastries.
The bathroom was also large, equipped with a big bathtub.
Le Yixian looked at the tub and remembered something. She turned to Amira, who was busy examining the authenticity of the gemstones on a teacup, and said, "Mira, let's take a bath together."
Seeing the large tub, Amira didn't overthink it and agreed.
She stripped off her clothes in a few quick motions and jumped into the water with a splash.
Standing outside, Le Yixian clearly saw the red wing markings on her fair back.
"Xiaoxian, aren't you coming?" Amira asked, splashing around excitedly in the tub when she noticed her friend hadn't moved.
"I haven't called home yet. You go ahead and wash; I'll join you in a moment," Le Yixian told her. She left the bathroom, took out her phone, and pretended to make a call.
She lived alone and had no family to speak of, but she had to commit to the performance. After "making the call," she sat on the sofa, eating a pastry with one hand and opening her group chat on her phone with the other. As she expected, the group was already being spammed by Gabriel.
[God's Guardian]:
[Come Fight Me]: Holy crap, why did the Oblivion Spell fail?? @A_Flower_in_the_Village, hurry up and explain this.
[Come Fight Me]: @A_Flower_in_the_Village, where are you?? Are you dead??
[Star Emerald]: Did you tag the wrong person??
[Come Fight Me]: Damn it, seriously. I was just shocked. Back when I used the Oblivion Spell to wipe the memories of those bipeds, it was always so smooth. This time, it had absolutely no effect on this girl.
[Star Emerald]: Is the "girl" you're talking about a human?
[Come Fight Me]: I guarantee she's a human. If she isn't human, then I'm not human.
[Star Emerald]: ...You aren't human to begin with.
