Chapter 122: Willing to Fall from Heaven for You 7
"Are you all right?" a calm voice asked, laced with concern.
"I'm fine," Le Yixian replied, rubbing her head, and noticed Huang Ze squatting in front of her.
Seeing that she was okay, Huang Ze turned his head toward Lin Xuan, brows furrowed, and said, "Lin Xuan, aren't you going to apologize for hitting someone?"
"S-sorry, I didn't mean to." Lin Xuan stared at Le Yixian's face, doubting his own eyes.
Come to think of it, it didn't seem like an illusion. The class representative seemed to have become prettier—the kind of pretty that made one's heart race. Thinking back to the face he had just seen, his hands itched with the urge to reach out and pull off those hideous glasses she wore.
"What are you trying to do?" Le Yixian looked at him warily, pushing up the glasses on her nose.
"Class rep, have you considered wearing contact lenses? You'd look much better that way," Lin Xuan suggested sincerely.
Le Yixian stiffened her face and said solemnly, "Contact lenses are very uncomfortable. Besides, what's the point of a student caring about how they look? Does being good-looking get you the top rank in the entire grade? I think you should spend more time studying Chinese essays with Mira; if you write your essays well, getting into Tsinghua or Peking University is no dream."
Seeing Le Yixian about to enter "Teacher Liu" mode, Lin Xuan grabbed his basketball and bolted. "If you're okay, I'm going to play basketball now."
"Do you want to go to the infirmary?" Huang Ze’s voice sounded by her ear.
Le Yixian looked up and felt a headache coming on. "I'm fine, thank you."
"It would be better to go and get checked. The monthly exams are the day after tomorrow; it wouldn't be good if you injured your brain," Huang Ze said, expressionless.
"Are you cursing me?" Le Yixian’s mouth twitched.
Hearing this, Huang Ze looked down at her, surprised. "I'm concerned about you. In your eyes, am I someone who would stop at nothing for the top grade?"
"No, I thought wrong," Le Yixian quickly denied.
Unfazed, Huang Ze stared at her intently. "Classmate Le Yixian, your mindset shouldn't be so dark. The teacher is right; it is normal for us, in the prime of our youth, to have one or two academic rivals."
Le Yixian felt a massive headache.
On the day of the monthly exams, Huang Ze, sitting in the row behind her, said with absolute seriousness, "I will definitely surpass you this time."
"Then good luck," Le Yixian encouraged him with a full smile.
A few days later, the results were posted. Huang Ze stared at the grade rankings in the hallway in shock.
"Wow, Xiaoxian, your first place was snatched away by the 'Study God'," An Mira said, looking at the rankings in surprise.
"What's the big deal? Huang Ze's grades have always been excellent; it's normal for him to take first place," Le Yixian said, nodding with satisfaction as she looked at the five-point gap between her and Huang Ze.
Now that the results were out, that person should be satisfied and stop pestering her for a competition. Le Yixian returned to the classroom feeling quite pleased, just in time to see Raphael handing out math test papers. When he had finished, hers was missing.
"An Zihui, where is my paper?" she asked.
Raphael gave her a meaningful look and said, "The 'Study God' took it, saying he wanted to study it."
Study? Study what? Le Yixian wondered silently.
Suddenly, she stood up with a start.
"Class representative!" a chilling voice sounded from behind. Le Yixian turned around to see Huang Ze holding a math paper, grinning at her.
"Could you explain why, for the seventh multiple-choice question, you chose A instead of D?"
Le Yixian blinked, her face full of confusion. "What?"
"Such a simple question, why did you get it wrong?" Huang Ze handed her the paper.
She took it and looked at the seventh question on the math test, realizing it was a set theory problem. She muttered, "Isn't it A?"
Huang Ze stared straight at her. Le Yixian looked down, checked again, and said, "Wow, it really is D. Thanks for the reminder; I was too careless and didn't read the question clearly."
In the days that followed, Le Yixian felt like dying. With Lin Xuan targeting her glasses and Huang Ze obsessing over her studies, she couldn't catch a break.
"Xiaoxian, is spring finally coming for you?" An Mira giggled at her.
Le Yixian shot her a look. "Hurry up and drag Huang Ze away; don't let him bother me."
"Class rep, you're the class rep, you have to do something about my poor grades, right?" Lin Xuan asked from the side, feigning sadness.
"No, go find the members of your study group," Le Yixian said, pointing at An Mira.
Lin Xuan refused. "I want you to teach me, class rep."
"Classmate Lin Xuan, if you want to learn, I can teach you. The class representative’s grades dropped in the last monthly exam; she needs to review properly and stabilize her mindset," Huang Ze popped up out of nowhere, pushing up his glasses.
"Can't you just let the class rep be? You two are always fighting over first and second place anyway," Lin Xuan said.
Le Yixian cursed internally.
She saw a glint flash across Huang Ze's lenses as he began his lecturing mode: "In terms of learning, we can only compete in a friendly and loving manner, not by yielding to each other. There is no point in being disingenuous, right, Classmate Le Yixian?"
This was practically pointing a finger at her. Both Huang Ze and Lin Xuan stared at her, waiting for her to speak.
Le Yixian took a deep breath, stood up, and said to them, "I need to use the restroom. Please move."
Huang Ze: ...
Lin Xuan: ...
Clearly, both were baffled by Le Yixian's sudden maneuver.
Le Yixian hid in the restroom until the class bell rang before returning.
*One more week. If I don't find my little darling, I will end this life,* she decided inwardly.
She didn't know how old the author of this book was. It was supposed to be a Western fantasy story, yet these angels and demons who were thousands of years old acted like children in their teens. Huang Ze was a stubborn human, while Lin Xuan and An Zihui seemed to have completely convinced themselves they were human.
A week later, Le Yixian still hadn't found a trace of Ke Yuandao.
After class, she packed her things and walked out slowly. She had already picked the spot for her suicide—a remote, deserted river near where she lived. It would definitely not affect the development of this world.
*I need to finish this world quickly and go to the next one to find my little darling.*
She walked slowly toward the center of the river. The autumn water was freezing, but Le Yixian felt nothing.
"Madam, wait!" Gousheng's voice suddenly popped into her mind.
The river water had already submerged her thighs. She stopped and looked down at the river surface, where her reflection shimmered vaguely.
"Gousheng? You're here?" she asked.
"I'm here. Something happened, and it took a lot of effort to log back in. What are you doing, Madam?" Gousheng asked, his tone cautious.
"Me? I'm committing suicide."
"…Why are you committing suicide?" The entire system was stunned.
