The old lady was in no serious danger, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Just then, a great commotion suddenly erupted outside.

“I’ll go take a look,” Mohan said, pushing open the door and stepping outside.

He saw a group of burly men leaping from several vans, each carrying a steel pipe.

“Damn it, this car is parked in front of the Xu residence, so it must belong to one of the Xu family’s relatives. Smash it too!”

When one of the men spotted Mohan’s car, he led the others toward it.

Li Xue, Xu Hong, and the others were instantly terrified when they saw more than twenty thugs charging toward them with steel pipes.

Xu Hong in particular collapsed onto the ground, panic and fear filling her eyes.

She had only just ordered Xu Jie to have someone beat Mohan. These thugs had obviously come to take revenge.

Xu Jie and her daughter Wu Wan had already gone to the hospital, so the thugs would certainly come after her. She had no idea what to do.

The others were frightened by the thugs’ intimidating presence as well. Though most of them looked to be barely twenty, and some even younger, they were all carrying steel pipes. Their very appearance naturally inspired fear.

At that moment, Li An’an also came outside. Having witnessed Mohan’s abilities before, she was not worried in the slightest.

Mohan’s expression darkened when he saw that these people intended to smash his car as soon as they arrived. He was furious.

Not far away stood a wooden bench. Mohan rushed over, seized it, and stood valiantly in front of his car.

In truth, he could have dealt with these men in minutes even with his bare hands.

But he thought it best not to be too outrageous in front of these ordinary people, lest the story spread and he be made into some kind of supernatural legend.

“Fuck, you dare fight back? You’re asking to die!”

Seeing Mohan holding a bench and blocking their way, the thug at the front roared angrily and brought his steel pipe crashing down toward Mohan’s head.

Mohan gave a cold snort. Ignoring the pipe descending toward him, he raised the bench and swung it forward even faster.

Bang!

His strike was so fast that the thug’s pipe had only completed half its arc when the bench smashed into his head.

Crash!

The bench shattered instantly, while the thug did not even manage a groan before collapsing.

Mohan casually seized the steel pipe from his hand and wrested it away with a little force.

The other thugs still had no idea what kind of existence they had provoked. They continued swarming toward him.

With the steel pipe in his hand, Mohan seemed to have divine assistance. Every swing sent another thug sprawling, and before long, more than a dozen had been knocked unconscious.

He knew exactly how much force to use. Although every blow landed on the opponent’s head, each was only strong enough to render him unconscious. As for whether they would suffer concussions, that was none of his concern. So long as they did not die, it was fine.

Xu Fang and the others from the Xu family were shaken to their core at the sight of Mohan’s ferocity. Surrounded by more than thirty men, he moved as if he were walking through an empty field.

Xu Hong was especially stunned. She had never imagined that, in addition to being wealthy, Mohan could be such a terrifying man.

Thinking about how they had angered him the previous night, she realized that if Mohan had chosen to use force then, they would probably still be lying in the hospital now.

The thought sent a chill down her back, though it also filled her with relief.

One man defeating dozens was something they had never even heard of, let alone witnessed with their own eyes.

The dozen or so thugs who remained saw how ruthless Mohan was. Every blow crashed into their heads, and each strike sent another man unconscious. None of them knew whether their companions were alive or dead, and they were all terrified.

They retreated one after another, their eyes filled with fear as they looked at Mohan.

They had been running with gangs for years and had long since lost count of how many fights they had been in.

But they had never encountered anyone who fought with such terrifying, unreasonable brutality—especially not someone who could face more than thirty men alone.

“Who do you work for?” Mohan asked when he saw that they were finally afraid, then stopped.

As he walked toward them step by step, the last few thugs were scared out of their wits. One of them was so frightened by his imposing presence that he even wet himself.

“Our boss is Li Hu—Brother Hu,” one of the thugs answered weakly.

“You can leave.”

Mohan tossed the steel pipe to the ground, took out his phone, and called Chen Jianpeng.

“Do you know much about the underworld here in Xiuwen? How powerful is Li Hu?” Mohan asked.

“Li Hu is the only major force here. He has consolidated all the others, and his influence is fairly substantial,” Chen Jianpeng replied.

“Do you have any dealings with him?” Mohan asked again.

“No. In fact, I heard two days ago that he had formed a partnership with Heavenly Gift Properties. Heavenly Gift and I are competing for a major project,” Chen Jianpeng said.

Mohan frowned. “You know this place better than I do. Tell Li Hu that his men had better behave themselves over the next few days. If they come to cause trouble at the Xu residence again, I’ll wipe out his entire base.”

“Understood. I’ll contact him right away,” Chen Jianpeng replied.

After hanging up, Mohan felt that Li Hu might not necessarily give Chen Jianpeng any face. After all, Chen Jianpeng was not from Xiuwen.

He thought for a moment, then called Xu Jing.

“Bring everyone to Xiuwen. One hour should be enough, right?” Mohan said directly.

Mohan wanted Xu Jing and the others to use this opportunity for some practical training.

Hearing this, Xu Jing did not ask any questions and simply replied, “If we don’t race the cars, we can be there in four minutes.”

Qiancheng was less than an hour from Xiuwen, so that was more than enough time.

“Why don’t we go see Second Uncle first?” Li An’an suggested.

“You and Mom go ahead. There may be more people coming to cause trouble later.” Mohan shook his head.

Having dealt with members of the underworld so many times, Mohan understood their nature all too well.

Unless he frightened them thoroughly, they would keep coming after him without end, refusing to stop until one side was dead.

“All right,” Li An’an agreed with a nod. She took Xu Fang into the car and drove directly to the hospital.

After the two women left, Mohan carried a bench to the front of the Xu residence, sat down, took out a cigarette, and began smoking leisurely.

Everyone looked at him with some trepidation.

Xu Hong especially had no idea what to say. She felt guilty and somehow unable to speak to Mohan.

The thugs whom Mohan had knocked unconscious gradually woke up. One of the burly men saw Mohan sitting nearby, smoking, and threatened him in a low voice.

“Kid, you’d better wait for us. If we don’t flatten the Xu family’s house today, then my name isn’t Lu!”

After delivering his threat, he woke the others one by one, and they all left.

Xu Hong and the others were even more terrified.

Half an hour later, Xu Kai and the others returned. Xu Jin had needed only a few stitches, so the injury was not particularly serious.

Seeing Mohan sitting alone outside while everyone else kept their distance from him, the group frowned. None of them knew what he intended to do.

“You came back at just the right time. Our Xu family is finished! Xu Jie, hurry and call someone for help. Li Hu’s men are coming again, and they said they’re going to smash up our house!” Xu Hong said anxiously.

“Mom, what happened? How did we offend Li Hu?” Wu Wan asked nervously, frowning. Li Hu was the leader of Xiuwen’s underworld, and Wu Wan knew very well how overbearing he was.

“Li Hu’s men came to smash Mohan’s car earlier, and Mohan beat them up. Then they threatened to come back today and destroy your eldest uncle’s house.”

Because the matter was so serious, Xu Hong immediately tried to shift the blame. She hoped Li Hu’s men would not come after her and her daughter.

Hearing her words, everyone around them looked disdainful.

Li Hu’s men had clearly come for them in the first place. After Mohan drove them off, Xu Hong actually tried to place all the blame on him.

She was truly shameless.
